ASU is a "dry" campus meaning no alcohol. Also no drugs allowed of course. However, when reading the news in the university's newspaper, there were quite a lot of reports on drug or underage drinking and even by word of mouth you heard about crazy parties and such.

The weather here is perfect. Summer is a little hot, but it's manageable

Life Off Campus – As a returning student, I don't think I would want to live in the dorms. I prefer to live off campus and commute. There is definitely a dorm like feel to campus housing that I personally don't care for.

Fast Food Dining – I would recommend stepping off the campus to grab something to eat. There are tons of great restaurants around the campus. However they do provide fast food, like taco bell and subway for students on campus.

Health & Safety:
Really Safe – I have always felt completely safe on the ASU campus. There are emergency phones every 10 feet to get a hold of the police and they have an emergency text system to let students know if there is a problem on campus. I really like the campus and would highly recommend it to others

The freshmen dorms aren't the best, but they're better than what one would expect. Hassayampa is not too bad. It's close to two dining halls and the post office. The rooms are alright, but the lofted beds are a bit of a hassle and you have to buy your own light source.

Health & Safety:
I always feel very safe on campus. Campus Security is always out and about, and there are emergency phones all over the place. If you need to walk across campus at night, you can call for a free escort from security. The school is always good about informing students about potential dangers and whether or not there are criminals near campus. I only wish the campus was more well-lit at night.

Mill Avenue – There aren't many unique restaurants available near ASU, but there are restaurants close to the university especially on College Avenue and Mill Avenue. Mill Avenue is probably the coolest place to hang out, but it's mostly for people over 21 years of age.

The parking is expensive and very inconvenient. There's no need for a car if you live close to campus.

There's a wide selection of housing options with great value.

General Campus Aesthetics – ASU's downtown Phoenix campus is excellent. It is in the heart of Phoenix surrounded by businesses, excellent restaurants, and the arts. This gives the campus a very cultured feel.

Overall, although it has only been 2 years, I loved my ASU experience. I could not have asked for a more perfect freshman year. The ASU experience definitely lived up to my expectations--raging parties and good looking people. Besides the parties and people, despite what many think, ASU has outstanding academics as well. The business school and journalism program are excellent and also add to my pride of being a Sundevil.

Black Out or Back Out – Nightlife at ASU is definitely lively. You will always find a party going on every single day of the week. If there's nothing too fun on campus, you can walk, safety escort, taxi, or light rail it to Mill or other off campus housing (such as The Vue or Campus Suites or Block 1949). Scottsdale is also a few minutes away so if Tempe isn't too hot, you'll have a good time at either the clubs in Scottsdale or the Fashion Square Mall.

Safety and Security – I have never felt scared to walk around campus by myself

Some Are Good Some Are Horrible – The campus housing is very expensive and over priced. The facilities are not worth the money.
College Junior 2012-02-06T19:40:09Z
The SRC Is Good – The student recreation center is a good place to work out but it is always full so they need to open another gym or something.

I would buy a U-pass instead. It's a lot cheaper and better for the environment. :)

ASU always has a lot going on either on-campus or off-campus. On-campus parties are everywhere on the Tempe campus,so it is an easy way to get there, except for student's who live on the different ASU campuses, they might have to take a taxi or use our light rail system. Then off-campus there are clubs and Mill Avenue where there are restaurants, clubs, and where the whole nightlife scene is at.

Guys & Girls:
At ASU you will find a lot of locals and people from the western states, like California. But most students come from colder places for Arizona's hot weather. The student's are really welcoming and here for the social aspect, so everyone is willing to meet new friends. The girl to guy ratio is much higher, so the guy's get to look at beautiful women.

The ASU labs are available most of the time, but sometimes they get booked up around testing time. Also, there are computers pretty much anywhere by any student center. The access to the computers are substantial, but sometime the internet is slow since student's use their own computers. The computers are updated and new, so they is little conflict with technology problems.

Greek Life – They do not tolerate anything that harms a student such as hazing under any circumstance.

Light Rail Is a Life Saver! There are so many options of transportation at ASU. There is the flash back and flash forward on campus that run opposite direction through campus all day. There is also the orbit that run throughout places near campus. The light rail is a train that runs from campus to either phoenix or mesa.

So Much to Do! The nightlife for students 21 and up would probably lead you to Mill ave. Just a strip full of bars and restaurants.
For the students 18 and up, I would say the Vue would give you an eventful night. Also on Mill Ave there's a few stores to shop at. It is literally a 3 minute walk from campus. Tempe Town lake is also another great place to be. There are usually free events going on there. Also a great place to go on a date!

Great Place to Study – The facilities at Arizona State are extremely awesome. There's so many great places to study. Many places to go and hang out with some friends. They have 4 Starbucks across campus for all the coffee addicts and the Student recreational center (src) is the perfect place to get in a good workout.

Drinking Is More Popular – There are those groups of people who do smoking on the weekends, but drinking far outweighs that. The only time I know of other drugs being used is when a Rave comes into town or when finls roll around and lots of students start popping Concertas.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
