Health & Safety:
Very Safe – I feel very safe on campus. If some threat appears, we will receive texts from ASU alerts and keep indoors.
College Junior 2012-01-24T18:08:34Z
network speed is quick most often, but sometimes My ASU is down because it is too crowded.
College Senior 2012-01-24T06:02:29Z
Network Reliability and Speed – The network at ASU is reliable for the most part, but speed is an occasional issue. During the year, video streaming is relatively slow, and watching tv or youtube videos online is a pain because there is almost always excessive buffering.

Free campus shuttles to take you from West to Tempe and Poly. Also free shuttles just around main campus. There's also the Orbit that goes around Tempe. And the lightrail. It's pretty great, you don't need a car to get around.

Fast Food Central – There's ALOT of fast food places near campus, like McDonald's and Taco Bell. About 2 miles away is Tempe Marketplace, and they have alot more places to eat. There's also a few good sushi places & a Buffalo Wild Wings near campus.
College Sophomore 2012-01-24T02:56:09Z
Freshman 15 – There are 4 dining halls located on campus, although one is only available for Barrett honor students. The food isn't bad, but it is cafeteria food. It gets really old after a while. Sometimes the only really warm thing to eat is pizza, hence the dreaded Freshman 15. You can also take your meal plan after the dining halls have closed and do a meal exchange in one of the student stores for certain things like sandwiches, parfaits, and salads.

Arizona State University Tempe campus is a huge area that always has some sort of event, fundraiser or party going on, no matter what day of the week or what time it is. There's also 2 huge shopping marketplaces within 5 miles of the school, as well as a mall, multiple movie theaters, and dozens of restaurants.

Marijuana, while legalized for medical use, is considered a felony to possess any smokeable amount, Tempe police and Campus Police are extremely strict with marijuana use. Tempe and Phoenix have a pretty big rave scene and there really isn't an enormous presence of any other drug, other than obviously alcohol

There are MANY options on and off campus that accept M&G Dollars, ASU's digital currency, also, there are multiple places on campus with different varieties of food in a buffet style that accept meal passes. There are different priced meal plans with different amounts and ratios of Meal Passes and M&G dollars

While the academics at ASU are not bad, and the staff members are mostly helpful, the administration seems not to care at all about the well-being of its students. It is not a good feeling and the reason for my transfer.
College Senior 2012-01-23T19:34:11Z
Very Dry Campus – ASU is a dry campus. No alcohol is allowed at all and the cops are always ready to hand out MICs around campus. Drugs are not very big on campus.
College Senior 2012-01-23T19:32:20Z
Very Diverse All Around – ASU is a very diverse community and everyone is accepted. Anyone can come to ASU and fit right in in my opinion. The people on campus are always open and easy to talk to.
College Senior 2012-01-23T19:29:22Z
Lots of Apartment Options – There are a lot of options around campus and they all have very similar prices. Most are kind of expensive and others are just average.
College Senior 2012-01-22T20:13:21Z
Parking is outragious on campus. It is extremely expensive and space is limited. Luckily for students who live in Tempe, there is plenty of public transportation. Tempe is very commuter friendly.
College Senior 2012-01-22T20:11:16Z
Arizona is planning on cutting back the scholarship money offered to students. Huge mistake on their part since they are also cracking down on students for drinking. They are not prestiage enough to turn away so many possible students.
College Senior 2012-01-22T20:06:35Z
Party School – Sports are a big part of campus life along with partys. ASU is attempting to change the party school image. There are plenty of shops and things to do in or around campus. It is very much a college town. Academically it has certain programs that are exceptional and others that are given less priority and shadowed.

There are many facilities like a student center, a writing center to help students with essays and resumes. There are gyms on some floors and a full dining hall for eating, as well as a den for students to hangout. Overall the facilities here are very good.

Classes Really Help With My Future – I am in the Exercise and Wellness major and the education I have been getting is very beneficial to what I want to do after college.

It's Not Bad – There are a lot of policies, but the overall strictness is moderate. Enforcement isn't regular, but there is enough of it to feel safe.
Recent Alumnus 2012-01-20T04:26:35Z
The campus has a large base of students from other countries/ethnicities. Being in Arizona, we have a lot of hispanic students, and it is largely accepted from the student body as a whole.
Recent Alumnus 2012-01-20T04:24:19Z
Plenty of Options – There are a lot of options to live off campus. I dig that.
College Junior 2012-01-20T04:24:10Z
No Need for a Vehicle – If you have a car, don't bring it. Almost anything you might need in the state of Arizona alone is reachable without one. Tempe pretty much has everything, and sometimes you might need a bike to get around quicker. If you're into the city life, the lightrail takes you to the Downtown campus and other places Downtown Phoenix offers like Suns and Diamondbacks games.
College Junior 2012-01-20T04:20:38Z
Very Diverse, but Sometimes Too Much – With ASU being the largest university in America, of course it's diverse. You'll find almost any types of people in just the Tempe campus alone- races, where people are from, etc. That being said, sometimes it gets out of hand when it comes to ideas. A lot of times (especially near the Memorial Union), you'll get many types of support groups soliciting on the pathway asking to join a cause, and it gets really annoying quickly.
College Junior 2012-01-20T04:16:19Z
Dining Hall – At first you'll go crazy after eating in one of the dining halls, but you will get tired quickly. Pitchforks at the MU seems to serve the same food over and over again and the soda and ice cream machines break easily. Be warned, this can easily get you on the Freshman 15+
College Senior 2012-01-19T04:02:29Z
There are so many opportunities at ASU. There are four campus's located in Arizona and each one is different in their own way. There are so many degree's and programs that are offered unlike other schools. Everyone I talk to loves it here, and they always have stories to tell about what adventures they went on that weekend. There sport's teams are always active and popular, along with the professional ones around the area.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
