i am a new student towards the Arizona state university but what i would like this scholarship is to help me buy books and finish of paying other bills that the school is asking me for. the school looks amazing as for indoor campus but outside of the skill looks pretty bad to live on. and this school offers a great educational; program being one of the top schools in the state

ASU is a very strict school. They mean what they mean.

Guys & Girls:
It could be rough sometimes. There are guys who are not so nice but the same goes got girls too. But for the most part everyone minds their own business.

Arizona State University is very diverse. It does not matter where you go on campus where you do not meet some one from a different place. You also don't hear people making fun other other peoples race or ethnicity because there is so much around campus.

my tuition was paid for because of my high school AIMS score, but from what I have heard ASU is pretty average on giving out scholarships. I got one last year because I sent in my fafsa early enough, but unfortunately I did not make the priority deadline this year.

Health & Safety:
Good security on campus; I really appreciate the lighted pathways and security officers when I walk alone. I just off campus, however, and every night there were cops outside pulling people over. The orbit has a lot of sketchy people on it that definitely are not students.

good options on campus such as chick-fila, pizza, and the all you can eat buffet. Mill ave has some good restaurants too - mellow mushroom and my big fat greek restaurant are two of my favorites
College Junior 2013-07-31T23:32:31Z
I live off campus so I don't see a lot of the greek life. They seem to have frequent gatherings at the Union, and you can usually tell who they are based on the sorority or fraternity advertisement on their clothing.

Arizona State University is overall pretty diverse

At Arizona State University, there are people around campus that are seen smoking, but overall, it's not many people. Starting this year, the campus will be a drug free campus. Hence, there won't be much drugs on campus anymore.

The places inside the Memorial Union are all pretty good! The dining halls get old after a while if you have a meal plan but the food isn't bad. The POD is really convenient however, the prices are outrageous and you'll end up overpaying for the convenience.

Mill ave has a lot of restaurants and places to eat, there are plenty of good places on university, old town scottsdale, at tempe marketplace and scottsdale fashion square as well. If you're looking for really unique places, you'll have to search a while but you can definitely find something!

The greek life is a lot different at ASU now than it was a few years ago, especially after Alpha Drive was torn down. ASU has no frat row, no fraternity houses and no sorority houses because if too many girls are living under one roof it is considered a brothel. So the fraternities live in complexes and houses around tempe, most of them are dirty and run down, except a few that have really nice ones. It kind of split the greek life up and pushed them off campus almost. Plus this past school year, a lot of drama happened in Greek life, including a death of a brother after he was lost for two weeks and a high school girl being burned by a fire at another fraternity party.

ASU is a dry campus, so if anyone is caught in the dorms with alcohol there are very harsh punishments and you could get kicked out of your dorm or moved to another one. Drug use and possession is another big deal in the dorms, I've seen campus cops searching rooms and busting students multiple times. Cops also patrol the campus and dorms on big days for drinking, there was a cop standing outside my dorm on halloween waiting for drunk students to come back.

The computer's aren't bad, although printing is a challenge, wifi is hit or miss, and blackboard crashes far too often.

Getting into the Education Program is easy if you work hard and get good grades. Staying in is the hard part if you are ever absent from classes... so stay in school! No vacations during the school year!
College Junior 2013-07-31T22:18:48Z
I earned all of my Scholarships because of my AIMS scores in High School. So my money for school came directly from the State... I don't know how well ASU does with handing out Scholarships, but I do know that they are the nicest people on the phone! If you are willing to be kind and patient with them, they ALWAYS help you out!
College Junior 2013-07-31T22:11:52Z
Just like an average college. Always go with the Sabra Hummus and pretzels when in a hurry or on the way to class! (Available in the Union)
College Junior 2013-07-31T22:10:38Z
Health & Safety:
While it is a little scary to walk around campus after dark, there are many lighted paths and there is always a (very kind) Security Officer to walk with you for protection. No need to worry if you take the right precautions!
College Sophomore 2013-07-31T19:25:11Z
There are many things to do at ASU, no matter which campus you attend. Because the Tempe campus is the main campus, there are many more things to do. However, there is almost always something to do after class at ASU.
College Sophomore 2013-07-31T19:18:25Z
The process was fairly easy and I was able to keep all the forms and were easy to read and understand. The only thing was that I received some scholarship money right as school was about to begin that I did not know of. About two months prior, I accepted students loans because the grant and scholarship money that I was shown was not enough. When I was told of the extra aid that I was receiving, I realized that I accepted loans that I did not need. I would have liked that I was shown all of the aid that I was receiving before being shown options for loans.

I cannot give an exact grade on the transportation at ASU because I have not used it yet. There are buses that pick up and travel to each ASU campus. It is free and has many transportation times. Distance is determined by what campus you are located at and which campus you will be headed to.
College Sophomore 2013-07-31T19:04:23Z
The off-campus dining at ASU West is pretty diverse, offering different restaurants with different types of food. There are many fast food chains in the area, however, there are also places that offer Korean, Italian, and Mexican cuisine.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
