School Spirit is a BIG part of ASU. The students are so supportive of their teams and represent ASU colors at every game. We are loud and proud.

ASU provides the typical food standards of any other college. Nothing special.

ASU provides a free intercampus shuttle, as they have four campuses across the valley. It is a well run system with air condition and wifi provided.

Health & Safety:
ASU is not in the nicest area but the campus itself keeps it pretty clean and put together, and keeps everything under control.

Unfortunately I'm a transfer student and never really got the chance to live on campus. Though I have visited friends who lived on campus and they loved everything about it. Though the quarters are fairly small it efficient and contains everything you'll need.

Personally I don't partake in much student campus life, I am friends with many fellow classmates but when we meet its usually off campus. I do know there is a vibrant on campus life, I just choose not to partake.

It's always necessary to give yourself at least 30 extra minutes before class to find parking. It takes time to find a spot but then also pay for it which may have a long line. The permit costs are about $400-600 for one semester depending how close to where you need to be. Also the earlier you get to school the better parking you'll find. I had a class at 7:30am and the best parking, class at 10:30 & it takes 30-45 min to find a spot. For the first time you don't pay for your spot they just give you a warning ticket, after that the fine is between $25-50 depending if on campus or parking near campus.

The majority of my classes are in the art building from the 70's. very old brick building and old elevators, the spaces inside the building are good but there tends to be a lot of problems with old sinks and the elevators. You can tell what programs my school funds the most by the quality of their buildings. The science research and business buildings are very new and some are contemporary.

The computers are fairly new but take a couple of minutes to log in, might just be a software issue. There are plenty of computers and printers. To print you must set up a pay account which takes about 30 minutes. The network reliability is great and you can get wifi all over the campus. There are many libraries and computer labs that get busy but you can usually find a spot.

I did not start the process of my financial aid as soon as I could've which takes a bit more time to finish. I would try and get started as soon as possible and make sure your parent is able to provide all the information they need.

ASU is known for its party scene, regardless of age. The campus is surrounded by many bars and clubs for students to enjoy and let loose. Party functions have also been a huge recognition of the school. Students get intoxicated with friends and do a great deal of crazy stunts. Parties are filled with many drunken people of both sexes. I am not of age to attend a bar so I cannot speak on behave of that. However parties consist of the same atmosphere as bars do as well as night clubs. Every person who is attending a nightlife atmosphere has the intention to live free and let their wild side out.

A B+ grade for usage of drugs at ASU because, students who attend college don't perform such affiliations with a specific drug in the campus necessarily. However they do use drugs such as alcohol, and illegal substances within their home, off campus. I have met a few students during class who tend to show intoxicated or under some type of influence. I think peer pressure has a great amount of responsibility to the usage of drugs. Some students claim that a specific drug helps them retain focus and understanding. As far as drugs being seen on campus property, I have not been near or visibly seen a drug in presence or the presence of others. The enforcement establishment wouldn't allow it on campus; and if seen those individuals would be taken into custody.

The parking is horrible and you have to get there 30-40 mins early so you cannot be late for class..
College Senior 2013-07-21T19:46:08Z
If you live near campus (within a mile), do not use a car! Parking in ridiculously over priced and you WILL get a ticket if your meter is expired by even one minute. Also, parking permits are going to cost you over $700!

I've had some hits and some misses with my classes at ASU. In the English program, all the teachers I have had so far are excited and extremely knowledgeable about the subjects that they teach. Discussion in these classes is always welcome, and I always have a blast, though I have had many teachers who demand that they are right on certain points and will hear no other opinions. The quality of academics does tend to droop a bit when you get into some of those bigger lecture halls. I do not know how thrilling teaching the same Psych 101 and similar classes over and over is, but it does not seem like the teachers care about much but getting you through the class with moderate success at times. I will say, though, that one of the best teachers I have ever had taught a lecture hall of 400 students, and he knew every single one of our names by the end, and he was passionate until the last day of class.

If there is one thing I know about campus, it's all the different options you have for food. The MU offers some good, standard food court style food, as well as some nice little sit down places, though it's all a little expensive. Tucked away on campus, you can find places like Subway, and even a small hot dog place on the eastern part of campus that is tasty, but expensive. The best dining hall, by far, is the Barrett dining hall. I don't know if I set myself up for failure with the other dining halls after eating at a place that has gelato every day and night, but the other dining halls pale in comparison. The food is not bad, but it is just very standard dining hall food. As standard as it comes.

The transportation offered at and around ASU is extremely convenient and has been useful to me in the past few years. I regularly take the light rail, which is semi-dependable, though it is not run by ASU itself, and I love the bus and shuttle transportation systems that are offered. Both are free, and they are convenient for any student who needs to get anywhere, be it around the main campus or in between any of the many different campuses.
