The campus is bubbling over with all the interesting backgrounds and ethnicities you see at ASU. From girls wearing full burqas as they attend their classes to international students from China to your good ol' American kids, there's a niche for every culture here. There are business student associations for the Pacific rim students, Hispanic fraternities etc. You can find it all.

The School of International Letters and Cultures, which I am in, is a much smaller program than a lot of the others. For that reason, we receive less funding, less attention, and fewer students. Despite being small in number, we are close knit and all of the staff- the language teachers, the advisers- are very involved in their students' success. I'd say the smaller numbers of language students leads to smaller classes and a more personalized experience, which is a rare treat in such a large university.

Guys & Girls:
You get a lot of different cultural backgrounds here. People play sports, meet for a fun night out, usually the look is for summer since its so hot most of the year but you can get the professional look, sporty, and just casual. Academics are important but having a good time on the weekends or social events during the week are just as important.

I think ASU is very diverse! With 4 campuses it houses many international students, transfer, continuing education, and incoming freshman of all different backgrounds!

Parking on campus is expensive!! It can be difficult to find parking and is a nightmare to leave. Once it took me 45 minutes to get out of my parking spot, out of the parking garage and about 2 miles down the road

ASU has 4 campuses and there is a shuttle that goes to and from every campus. It can be difficult and time consuming to travel that often (an hour ride from West to Tempe), but they still make it so you can save money on gas. In Tempe, they have local commuter buses, but if you don't live on that campus, be prepared to pay for public transportation (which is not great at West and Polytec campus) or make sure you have your own car.

Most places are really good and there are a variety of cuisines to choose from. Some places can get a little prices or the owners change hands though.

Health & Safety:
The campus is well lit at night and there are tons of call boxes in case of emergency on all of the campuses. It can get a little sketchy at night, but just be on your guard. I've never had any problems, but I've always been aware of my surroundings.

Some places are very interesting: lots of international food to try out! I have tried Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Thai, and Brazilian food near-by campus. The prices are not too high either. High quality places are closer to Mill Avenue and Scottsdale.

Some places can be way too expensive (like the former Vue). You can be paying way too much for the quality that is received. The staff tends to be uncooperative and unfriendly. The places are close to campus, however. The leasing agreements are strict and keep you locked into the apartment.

Sometimes parking on campus is a pain. If you dont have a permit then they would first warn you to not park there and the second time they would give you a citation. The parking meters should have a longer time to park there or just not have them at all since its a pain. Visitors should be able to park anywhere and anytime. It sucks to have a vistor visiting and they would get a ticket just for parking at the wong place or for too long.

On mills there would be a lot of clubs that are mostly 21+. During the weekends that whole street would be packed with people waiting outside the club just to wait to get in. There would also be cabs which is good so whoever needs a ride after a drinkig there would be rides. The police would be out with their hourses or bikes just incase if an accident occured.

I lived in Hassy so I loved it, it was very clean and HUGE for two girls. Everyone on the floors love each other and many students go out with their entire dorm floors for the first couple weeks. It's also the most expensive option but for hot water that never fails and a bathroom only shared with 3 other people, totally worth it. PV East and West, Best, Hayden, and Sonora are all crappy. They're farther away from actual campus (i.e. the classes, gym, MU, SRC), the wifi and hot water constantly go out, you have community bathrooms, and the foods more eh. But those are the more cost efficient options so it's a toss up.

Mill Avenue is amazing if you're 21+, but don't try to go there with a fake I.D. or an idea that if you have huge tits you'll get in for free. Generally costs are low and the bars&clubs are bumping, but you have to be of age. The frat parties are great but we don't have a frat row and the police tend to find the parties within 2-3 hours. Thankfully there's multiple every Thursday, Friday and Saturday so you can always party hop, if you're a girl. Cabs aren't outrageous, plus there are pledges at disposal if you're close with the fraternity members.

Classes are more difficult than you would expect. The university is trying to change it's image not only from a party school, but also from an "easy" school. There are some great professors but there are also professors that are full of themselves or have accents so thick you can't understand a word they're saying. We're still on semesters which I'm a fan of and it makes registration a lot more bearable since you only have to deal with the system and the guidance counselors twice a year.

The weather is always sunny its Arizona. It can be unbearable when it reaches 100 degrees but they even offer online classes if you live on campus. Hello staying in pajamas all day and still at college.
College Senior 2013-04-14T20:43:56Z
There are many diversities at ASU. The student staff alone shows diversity. I don't feel there are any race or ethnic issues. There are four different campuses not including students who are online.

Health & Safety:
There is an actual police station on the tempe campus. I only take online classes but I still get daily updates regarding my safety. This is fantastic. I don't feel unsafe. I like that they take into consideration all students. I also see when I have to go on campus security is everywhere.
College Junior 2013-04-14T19:39:47Z
Pleased overall. Classes are hard but interesting. Suspect harder than average.
College Junior 2013-04-14T19:38:18Z
Generally hot, but we are in Phoenix. Misters throughout, good shade.

Am only in my first semester. Have really enjoyed my classes and professors thus far. All willing to go the extra mile to teach and explain. I do think that more is required of students in traditional freshman classes. Definitely some busy work in most classes. Overall a great school, am proud to be a student here

Health & Safety:
I generally feel very safe on campus. Have not ran into any issues at all. Have not needed held from campus security, but have noticed them out and about. Have left stuff around without fear of theft. No problems walking at night. Well lit. Lots of foot traffic
College Student 2013-04-14T19:10:01Z
Extremely expensive unless you want to ride the bus (from free parking)
College Student 2013-04-14T19:05:07Z
Pretty hot most of the time, however the whether in spring is terrific.

Guys & Girls:
The variety of guys and girls at ASU is massive. Most of the guys are athletic, but the other ones are pretty hipster. The men are totally attractive, and usually very smart! The girls are beautiful! The majority of the school is physically in shape. Its a pretty attractive school. I'm a bio major and the people that share the same major with me are very good looking, contrary to popular belief!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
