It is awesome being in my program. My program is the journalism program and I can't imagine a better place to learn the craft of journalism. Every journalism professor has professional experience of some sort. Students can get experience with the Blaze, the student radio station, Cronkite NewsWatch, ASU's Rocky Mountain Emmy-winning student-run newscast, when they are juniors and/or seniors, and with professional sources like the Arizona Republic, Fox10, ABC15, and many other profession sources. The workload peaks junior year when it is really stressful, but it is totally worth it when one graduates.

For me, a typical internship would be working with a news source (a newspaper, a tv news station, or a radio station) and producing the news. Not many are paid, but the ones that are usually require more of a time commitment and higher responsibilities. ASU is very helpful in finding internships. I personally have not had one yet, but I know where to go if I want one.

ASU has majors for pretty much anything that you can imagine. I personally am a journalism major at the Walter Cronkite School. I have seriously enjoyed all of my journalism classes that I have taken so far, and even though there are some stressful ones ahead of me, I know that I will enjoy them too. ASU is very helpful in finding jobs after college and finding internships in college, and the Sun Devil alumni base is gigantic, and that helps a ton.

The academics at ASU are difficult, but not too difficult. ASU, thanks to President Crow (and I don't mean that in a sarcastic or condescending way), is becoming a much more academic school. I attend the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and it is one of the best journalism schools in the nation. Over the past five or so years, we have won more Hearst Journalism Awards (college Pulitzer prizes) than any other school. ASU is no Harvard, but the academics here are still very good.

I absolutely love the weather here at ASU. It is a little hot (up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit) in August when one would move in, but by October it cools down to about 70-80 degrees. I am a person who hates being cold and loves the heat, so ASU works out perfectly for me. It warms up to about 100 again in May, but since finals week is the first week of May, one can get out before that hits (I live in Colorado, so that's me). All in all, the weather here is perfect for me.

More to Be Desired – I think the Greek Life on campus is great (although I'm not in a frat), yet I've heard reviews from people that it lacks in comparison to rival schools.

Great over night campus shuttle, takes a decent time and is free. Light rail is also very convenient

Not as easy as I thought to fill out, do it with time

Extremely convenient location, great quality, pricey

Adlephi Commons - Clean and close to campus; however sharing a bathroom between 4 individuals can be difficult.

I love my program of study! The Ira Fulton School of Engineering is wonderful and truly care about the success of their students. I enjoy the expertise of my professors and the facilities that are offered to us. Also, I like the special events and opportunities extended to the engineering students. There's a sense of pride knowing you're part of something in which not just anyone can be admitted.

The atmosphere in Tempe is electric! Tempe is in the Phoenix metro area so there is always something to do. Also, Old Town Scottsdale is only a few miles away and there always events there as well. There is plenty of dining and shopping close to the campus. The local attitude toward students is great. Naturally, the businesses around campus love them. If it's nightlife you seek, look no further than Mill Ave in Tempe and Old Town Scottsdale. Also, other than ASU sporting events Phoenix also has a professional team in all four major sports.

I have enjoyed the faculty at ASU. At times there can be a language barrier with some of the professors but overall the curriculum and grading have been fair.

I have never witnessed drug use on campus but I also have never lived on campus. I do feel ASU has a very safe campus.

I feel the curriculum is fair and the facilities are great. I enjoy attending lectures from professors that are known experts in the field. Often my professor is the author of the textbook of the engineering course.

The food all tastes very good. Like any college campus you get sick of the food at the dining halls, but it is still quality food. There are a decent number of alternative dining options.

Shuttles at Arizona State are very effective, and on time. They run almost every half hour, and they take you to all three campuses. The public transportation can be a long wait, but it is very easy to catch a bus when you need one and the cost is not that bad.

There is a lot to do right around the campus. Mill Avenue has great restaurants and is within walking distance from the campus. The light rail is awesome if you want to go downtown to watch the Phoenix Suns or the D-Backs.

Barrett, the honors college at ASU has an excellent academic program and I'm proud to be a part of that community. I don't know as much about ASU as a whole. The Speech and Hearing Sciences program is also excellent and I enjoy the professors and what I have learned so far.

I really enjoy the Barrett Dining hall as well as pitchforks. I also like the variety of options available in the Memorial Union.

Health & Safety:
I feel safe most of the time as long as I stay away from people who are drinking or doing drugs...those things aren't supposed to be allowed on campus at all, but it happens, and I just try to stay away from it and generally I feel safe that way.
College Sophomore 2013-01-24T19:28:27Z
Not a big drug scene, and the campus police are always on patrol.
College Sophomore 2013-01-24T19:26:32Z
Cheaper to live on campus. Once you take into account rent, utilities, a car, and all the things that go with.
College Sophomore 2013-01-24T19:24:07Z
Not a lot to do near campus unless you are over 21.
College Sophomore 2013-01-24T08:36:43Z
The dorms are great to live in. But if you are a freshman it is hell if you want to get away from partying.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
