Research buildings are super high tech and amazing...I am a science student so I specifically know about the Biodesgin Institute...many vaccines have been developed there and ASU is working on a potential HIV vaccine that will go to clinical trials in the next few years...There is also a ton of research in nanoscience, physics, and genetics. I do not know about all of the specifics but lots of new technology research in regards to nanoscience and genetics is underway.

I have an amazing internship with a very well known neuropsychiatrist...It has been an amazing, growing, trying, and educational experience thus far. I look forward continuing my position as a now paid employee.

ASU is amazing from an educational, communal, and social stand point. The sense of community at ASU is not like any other institution I have been to. There is much opportunity to grow and be involved if you find the right student organizations to be involved with. This is typically not a challenge because there are many!
From the business side ASU sucks. I do not mean their business school, the business school is great. However, be sure that if you are an out of state student you understand "ASU's residency" requirements it is MUCH different than what is required by the STATE of Arizona. Look at ASU's residency requirements so that you aren't paying double...
Undergraduate Student Funding for student organizations is not based upon ASU's true mission set forth by President Crowe. Students decide who gets this money for student organization/club funding. So, yes as you imagine much of this money goes towards concerts and DJ's rather than socially embedding students within the community or on campus for outreach work, education, health, policy, volunteering, or leadership opportunities. It seems a bit unethical but if you understand how this works you can usually find a way to be funded. Professors are amazing and work with you if they believe in what you're doing.
Class sizes or large so you must be willing to put in the extra effort to create and maintain relationships with professors.

Unless you splurge on a parking pass, parking on campus can be difficult at times. Relying on meters is a risky situation.

I know there are many available. I did not apply for many until later into my college career.

Nightlife in Arizona is where its at! We have Mill Ave, Old Town Scottsdale, North Scottsdale, and Downtown, all of which have countless amazing places to go. Although the nightlife is much better for those over 21, Arizona still offers plenty of things for underage people to do such as many house parties, sporting events, etc.

great school, great athletic spirit, alright on academics; we are turning around our rep. worst greek system ever, because of the rep and terrible things that have happened they tore down the houses. we are trying not to be all about partying now! however is it very easy to get social around here. wish our athletic teams were better and it was more of a community things. its not the best university life, i would still go with usc, ucla, an east coast school for university life, but AZ state would be a second best. a great second choice. if its your first choice and you choose your major well it could truly be great, especially for engineering, teaching, business and journalism.

outside it doesnt look great at all, inside is amazing. if you look the east coast look though, those types of schools.. a harvard, or U chicago look then you will be disappointed.

Guys & Girls:
there are nice people, it is sort of a hunt, your SOL if you dont stay in the dorms, im a transfer and stay on campus but truly missed out on not dorming as a freshman and sophomore, i regret it so much. there are some attractive guys and girls are pretty much all good looking. i hangout with people based on personality. there are amazing people here, just the ones that stand out most are the people you dont want to be around unless your into weird stuff. remember asu is trying to better its rep from the partying and not caring about school to frat rapes and houses getting torn down. things are changing, it is good. a great school, just rough to get into it. if your here for socializing though and legit classes, average hard, youll love it.

The public transportation is pretty good, we have some free buses that run from campus to campus. It's pretty helpful and convient. It isn't that expensive, you could purchase a student pass for the whole year so you can take the lightrail and other public buses.

ASU has a lot of people from many different states and countries. But I think it's predominantly white. There are different races here though its just a majority of the people that attend ASU are white. The people here are pretty friendly to be honest. I think there are many different sexual orientations and there is acceptance for it as well. There are different religious backgrounds as well and as said before it's not much of a problem.

I am a English Literature major, I could easily become some sort of teacher or something. But it's not really what I was aiming for. I plan on being a writer and a concern I have is pretty much money. Writers don't have guaranteed jobs because of the fact that there are so many writers. Finding a job is hard when you are a writer but I think if a person tries hard enough then they can actually get through with it.

As an English major there are a lot of internships around campus and off that will help me for when I graduate. I do plan on interning over the summer back at home. I think it isn't what I'd say is hard to find an internship. I think it's more about how badly you want something and what is required from you. My only concern about finding an internship is that being a writer is something a lot of people want now and days. So the amount of internships available to me is quite surely limited.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
