Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Greek life is big at ASU, but by no means does it dominate the social scene. Pledging a fraternity or sorority is an easy way to meet people and gain access to some parties. If you intend to join, be prepared to shell out some cash and commit a good portion of your time. Also, pledging may get in the way of meeting people outside the Greek community. If you’re interested in Greek Life, the best thing to do is participate in rush week before making a decision to pledge. Rush week is a great opportunity to meet the members of all the fraternities and sororities and to eat their food. The Greek life scene has gone through some major changes in the last several years. Many of the fraternities ruined it for the rest of the prideful Greeks here by getting involved in inappropriate activities, and breaking all of the rules. Sadly, the scene has gone downhill in a big way since then.

A lot of the popular fraternities have since been kicked off campus. The sororities haven’t gone through any major changes, and aren’t as notorious for breaking rules and getting in trouble. They do however have a pretty bad reputation for being promiscuous and snobby. Of course, these stereotypes that students pin on Greek life are not true for everyone involved. There are still quite a few Greeks who love the scene, and overlook some of the less desirable events from the past, and not every sorority girl is on Girls Gone Wild. Still, if you’re looking to be involved with Greek life that is either the dominate scene on campus, or has a great reputation, you’re probably not going to want ASU’s Greek life. If you’re interested in being part of a multicultural frat or sorority, there are plenty to choose from here, and those do not carry any sort of bad stigmas.

I've No Idea

not much as for a presence on campus. They are here, but it's not a prominent part of the school.

Not Very Impressive

I have not felt the need to join one because I feel it is not as important as my major or my peers. I feel I have no time for this and therefore know nothing about it.

ASU Greek System

The greek system at ASU is unlike any other greek system nation wide. There aren't any houses/greek row. The greek system is connected through events and parties that are usually planned ahead of time. The greek system, alike any other college, is a great way to meet new people and expand your horizons.

Did You Know?

Greek Life offers several credit-bearing classes for members, specifically designed to maximize your leadership potential and enhance your Greek experience. Many of the fraternities and sororities have their annual Formals at awesome places like Las Vegas! The bus ride alone is a fun experience so you can’t imagine how great the actual trip is. If you’re not interested in being in a frat or sorority, make friends with someone who is and go as their date!
