There is a vast amount of diversity. However, since it is located in Arkansas, the students who come from local schools can be very closed-minded and not very accepting when it comes to anything 'different.'

Most of the newer buildings are nice and only some of the dorms are nice.

Drug/alcohol visibility is average. All colleges will have it, but the choice to participate is 100% individualized- not based on a college scene.

The only problem is there are potential flooding zones.

Parking on campus is not bad at all. Comparing it to other campuses around the state, it is excellent. There is just an initial $25 fee for the year. Spaces are generally open close to where the student needs to go, and if not, the distance is not unbearable. Fines are fairly cheap as well, in case one does decide to park closer than permitted!

Russellville has a decent amount of restaurants nearby campus. Everything is easy to find and very convenient. Student discounts are excellent! Variety is pretty average for a town of this size. Of course, there will always be bigger towns with better options; however, there are definitely many worse! I am quite content!

There's not much variety when it comes to the off campus restaurants. And not all of them give student discounts.

All of the new dorms are great but some of the older ones need some work and are farther away from certain classes.

ATU always has overflow and has to put people in apartments or hotels. They are working on buliding a new dorm but its where a parking lot was so it makes parking difficult. There are quite a few older dorms and some are pretty old. But other older dorms arent as bad. The newst dorms are Nutt (2006 i think), Baswell (2007) Critz & Huges converted to a dorm in (2009), Tucker converted to dorm in (2010). These are the newest/conversions on campus.

I am a senior in the Wellness Science department at ATU. The workload isnt bad at all; until you get into your last year. This is a good curriculum but I would like it if they changed a few things because some of the classes seem unimportant to wellness majors (one class would be more of a pe class that has nothing to do with wellness, its mostly for teaching coaching majors). The class room size is good. Hallways get crowded when people are waiting for their classes. There are multiple intership places and many jobs.

The food in the caff is ok. They could improve in that area. But the campus student center called BazTech has a few different options. There is a sandwich shop (Which Wich), asian food, burger place (BYOB), Chick Fil A, and Starbucks.

Could offer a little more degrees. But for what they have it is a very good curriculum for most of the degrees from what I have heard from friends in different departments.

Go Home and do home work... There is nothing in this town to be able to have fun.

Registered Nursing is a lot of work and you always need to maintain a high GPA to get accepted into the program.

I had a few problems with the scholarships but it was mostly because I procrastinated and did not fill them out until the last minute causing myself problems.

The ethnic and racial diversity is average for a University, but everyone gets along with each other and do not have problems.

Public safety checks vehicle parking tags every day so be sure to park in your designated parking area, otherwise you will be caught and fined. I would invest into a good backpack and bicycle for college. If you have your classes ten minutes apart then you will be jogging to class a lot so that you will not be late.

The requirements are completing the prereqs for the program and maintaining an above average college GPA. When I got accepted into nursing school, the lowest GPA accepted in our class was a 3.6.

The nursing program here at Arkansas Tech University is quite amazing. The teachers are always readily available for helping the students understand material, and are never afraid to come to you first to question your grade and make sure you are where you need to be, academically. The clinical instructors are very knowledgeable and you learn so much from them! Not to brag, but the passing rate of ATU Nursing is 97%. Thats 64/66 students that pass the NCLEX the first time after graduation!
