I only applied for the pell grant last semester, but they were very helpful.

I don't live on campus but as far as I have seen there is no major drug problem. Drinking on the other hand is just about every weekend, but hey college is supposed to be fun right!

I love that Russellville has lots of places to shop. So after I get done with a hard day of studying I can go unwind with some much needed shopping with friends.

Guys & Girls:
More colors then I'm use to, I'm not racist but still. There are diffiainlly some hotties. But more weirdos then hot guys.

Local Attitude Towards Students – I love the Russellville area because almost all businesses are behind the students at Arkansas Tech University. Most even give discounts if you show your College ID!!

They are very strict and you will probably get caught. They do have room checks. Your first office you'll probably get wrote a warning and maybe a small fine. There are strict curfew rules for having people in your room.

Night Life – Night life is poor. It is a dry county but there are a couple resturants that do have liquor licens. There is one club but it is very trashy. House partys usually get busted and are very crowded because not many go on.

Health & Safety:
There have been numerous of incedents that could have been avoided. The campus needs better lighting and less shrubs around the buildings. They have put up quite a few emergency poles but they have been up for about 6 months and still do not work. I use to feel very secure till all the incedents that started happening two years ago.

Campus police and the RAs on duty are always looking to enforce the policies but many times situations are over looked. Tech is a tabacco free campus so if someone is caught with cigarrettes or smokeless tabacco they are fined. There is always people who find an easy way around getting caught. For those who do not do drugs or alcohol there is other things to get involved in and many people who do not consume either. Peer Pressure is not very prominent except in Greek Life.

There is a variety of off campus restaurants ranging from the dollar menu to fine dining. There are a number of local resaurants that have great food. There is fast food within short walking distance of campus and a nice dinner is only a short drive away.

Off Campus – There is a few options for off campus housing that include apartments and several duplexes but they tend to be fairly higher priced and they fill up rather quickly. They are safe areas but the housing conditions could be improved. When some friends of mine moved into their off campus apartment it was still dirty.

New Dorms Are Nice – the new dorms are nice but some of the older ones have issues

i think the campus is small enough that just having one officer is good enough but having two would be better and help out.

One thing to make sure and do is make sure and follow up in any and everything that is sent in to financial aid. They have to process thousands of students. But the financial aid department does do a great job.

There is good parking on campus but you may have to walk a distance if you live off campus. The school is currently building more parking spots.

After doing this survey I once again see how boring this town and college is and my urge to transfer is even stronger.

Pretty Standard – The food on campus is quite good in my opinion, it can get repetitive but I assume that happens with every college.

Doc Brown Gets What Doc Brown Wants. Over the last year Arkansas Tech University has shut down the Theatre, and is considering to drop Theatre Majors as a whole, along with the pool, which is used by not only the swim team but also the high-school and the community. The reasons for shutting down these facilities was lack of funding and safety concerns, even though both wouldn't take long to get back up to proper working conditions, and while the theatre was in poor condition it was a "black box" theatre because the school President didn't want to set aside funding to build them an actual building, he would much rather spend the schools money on things he enjoys such as football. Just last semester the football field had a new fence constructed all the way around the entire compound, new trees, a hill?, and an eatery built yet Doc Brown can't seem to find funding for the arts. It's atrocious and disgraceful.

Big City Not Much to Do – Honestly, Russellville itself is the biggest city I know with not much to do. However, the surrounding areas, within an hour or so provide all the fun and activities you could need, Dardanelle, about 10-15 min. away, has rock climing, mountain climbing, mountain bike trails, and Mount Nebo. Also, Conway has plenty of things to do and is only around 30-45 min. away. For even more options, Little Rock is only around an hour to an hour and a half from the school.

Parking is HORRIBLE. Due to a lack of dorms, nearly half our students live in rented hotels or apartment complexes. This means half our students are driving from off campus. Getting a parking space means getting there at 8am or playing musical spaces for at least an hour.

Drugs, Alcohol.. Hardly ever seen. It's definitely one of the safest schools I could attend. They actually made our campus tobacco free when I started in '09. :)

Journalism/Criminal Justice – For Criminal Justice, the best part of the program is the professors. All of them are extremely knowledgeable in their subjects.
For Journalism, the strongest point is the hands-on experience we get. :)

None That I See – Since I don't live on campus I am not around drinking or drug use, and I am quite happy about that.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
