Nearby the school is a mall, Walmart, Kroger and a few restaurants. The mall has great food choices but that is before the mall closes. Walmart and Kroger(a grocery store) are great options for stocking up or cooking for yourself. Other restaurants are mostly fast food places who do not have 24 -hour lobby service and REQUIRE you to have or be in a car to place an order.

Unlike Savannah State University, Armstrong students do not ride public transportation for free. When we do wait on the city bus, it almost seems forever until the bus comes. The bus routes are also confusing, but you can learn the routes quickly.

As a freshman I did not have a car to park. However, when I carpooled, it was insane. If you live off campus, it would be best to get there early unless you would like to walk a further distance. The parking tickets are outrageous and unnecessary. Some rules are unnecessary as well and I understand "school safety" but they are too strict. The campus also needs to expand the parking lot but instead seem to be using money in other areas.

The food at Armstrong has various choices to eat and greatly cater to a "healthy diet" and vegetarian audience. However, it would be greatly appreciated if more choices became available. The school has done a tremendous job catering to the "healthy" aspect but some college students, like myself, would not mind to "pig out" once in a while. The food is not the only thing that affects my opinion of out cafeteria. Not only is the food under-cooked and cold at times, but the workers and dishes are not up to par either. The dishes and forks are often somewhat clean but also contain stains or particles of food. It is almost as if we, the students, should bring our own silverware or switch to plastics. Overall, the food is decent and it is not too bad when hungry and in need of a quick "somewhat" hot meal.

There are a lot of apartments in Savannah that are close to the campus. However, it can be a little expensive if you do not have a roommate.

There are a large variety of different races and religions on Armstrong's Campus. There are people from Germany, Africa, Jamaica and many other places. There is a very balanced population. Racism has not been an issue in my experience. Everyone in my classes have gotten along despite race or religion.

Alcohol, or any other drugs, are not tolerated on Armstrong's campus. However, many students who are of age to drink do participate in going downtown.

The campus is beautiful and people are helpful and friendly. The location is okay, some parts of town are scarey. Overall, its fabulous! My dream college!!!

As a majority white campus, the diversity is better than you would expect to see. Many of the events are catered to the majority and minorites have few chances to express themselves (particularly through Greek life) as compared to the majority.

I had to take a written and sight singing test. The written portion was to determine what level of music theory I should be put into. The sight singing was to determine whether or not I should be a part of the Chamber Choir (which may require another audition for some). It wan't particularly difficult or nerve wracking, in fact the faculty were all very encouraging and sweet.

The music department at AASU is still seemingly to develop. I love the faculty, how engaging the courses are, and my fellow peers. It is an inspiring environment, but is also very difficult to keep up with. The music route is definitely not for anyone who isn't passionate or hardworking.

There are a bunch of activities to get into on River Street and downtown Savannah. Most folk on campus go downtown to local clubs and parties.A good majority of students go to Savannah State next door to us to find a good party.

Guys & Girls:
Usually everybody is in a relaxed mood and wear casual apparel.A majority of the women on campus stay active and exercise constantly at the recreation center. You get a mix of all different types of people. You'll see more on the shy timid side than you will party folk. Most are very mature about their engagements with others.

Armstrong is located in Savannah which is a very beautiful city! Savannah is a major tourist city so there is always a cultural event happening around the city. Dining and shopping is awesome because it gives you a small town feel. The people of the city loves college students since Savannah has 4 colleges. Safety is only an issue in certain parts of the city.

Armstrong's student life is very diverse and unique. The student union is only 4 years old and we have over 75 organizations for students to join. There are plenty of campus activities and events to attend via the Campus Union Board and the residential facilities. The athletic centers do need to be renovated and updated.

The parking services is open 24/7 which is nice and the officers that run the front desk a nice and helpful. The parking is strict, even though I haven't yet gotten a parking ticket. You're not allowed to back into parking spots which is a little weird.

I am enjoying my time in the program. It is very intense and a heavy workload but it is all just to better you.
College Senior 2013-05-03T03:38:40Z
The process of getting into the program is a bit difficult. If you begin at the school and complete the necessary classes with an 3.0 program GPA you are reserved a spot. Because I was a transfer there were even fewer spots for me to get in.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
