Diverse Body

I have attended Ashford's online community for two years and during that time I have found that the student body here come from all walks of life. From the working mom to the soldier in the field, anybody can attend as long as they have a basic working knowledge of computers, can utilize their time and be driven to write that paper even after a long 8 hour shift at work.

Community Vs University

When I attended a community college, getting financial aid approved was like pulling teeth without going to the dentist, very painful. When I arrived at Ashford they understood my needs and were very helpful in getting me approved. Twice in the past I found myself in a hardship situation where I was afraid that I would lose my place to live, thus losing my internet connection and jeopardizing my ability to attend an online school. Ashford understood and expedited my payout thus enabling me to pay my bills.

Online Vs. Classroom Experience.

Being a returning student who is also managing a career, time is very valuable. Having the flexibility to take a streamlined course without losing content is very important. Doubling that, not having to schedule classroom time, being able to take part in discussions at anytime, day or night using a forum model is added value to me.

So Far, So Good

I had no trouble transferring my credits over and they were all applied toward my degree. I have had great support from my academic advisor Justin Berry and I get all of my questions answered.

Great Great Coursework!

This university has a great staff and the curriculum they had to offer was insightful, however; Financial department needs to be more personal with the students. When they changed their financial policy mid term without warning of this prior, just an email was sent out as the to change. this effected all online students, as the university's financial aid policy went from a student having stipend funds to pay for such things as internet access, computer upgrade, etc for 4 months, to no funds available for 4 months of coursework. Help me to understand folks, if I am enrolled in an online university, and part of my tuition is to either replace my computer in case of a problem, access my online courses paying monthly for the internet, and any books that are not provided by the online eclass, yet all of the funds were taken for classes that I haven't yet taken, prior 4 months, is there something wrong with that? I think so. Instead of my having to have a failing grade in a class for not being able to access the online course, or having an incomplete grade, I decided to withdraw, but prior to that i had the university to drop all of my classes they already took the funds for, so it would show in my account portal, which would make it easier to transfer over to another university without overlapping funds.

All in all great staff except that they are only following orders from their superiors, who need an overall in their financial policies.

Overall Experience

I love this school, if the customer service was a bit better due to my specific situation, I would have graded this school an A+. I like the curriculum, the materials are by no means a piece of cake so I still get a challenge. I enjoy the communication with the Instructors, they are very good at response times.

Experiences

Being able to attend college and work has been amazing. I am getting the best of both worlds and Ashford University is a big part of it.

Online Learning Teams

I have attended online schools that require you to participate in online learning teams with others in different states/time zones. If one person failed to contribute to the group, the entire group would have to pick up the slack. I LOVE the fact that Ashford doesn't have these teams. You are responsible for doing your own work and you don't have to worry about other students. I am a busy mom and wife, working a full-time job, and going to college. I do not have time to write part of a paper that another student didn't take the time to do. I am responsible for enough people in my home, without being responsible for my classmates in other areas of the country.

Satisfies

Ashford online is not as expensive as most online colleges. Im currently taking up Psychology and so far I love it..The T.A's are hepful and there is always someone sending you a email or contacting you to make sure your comfortable with your coursework.I think that the financial aid advisors are wonderful. I do believe that if you are in certain financial circumstances they could be a little more informative and helpful towards trying to get you the benefits that you need.

Online Student

The online community is great. I meet many people that are kind and helpful. Each member of the Online learning community understands the sacrifices and struggles you have. That makes everything a little easier to handle.

Starting College at Age 65

What a challenge. My first week of college I was learning a new laptop, new software, new operating system and learning requirements for taking online classes. Felt like I was going in circles but managed to cope. I thought it would become easier as I moved from course to course but each new course provides more challenges. This is great because I know I am learning things daily

Ashford's Uniqueness

I love the online classroom set up. It is very convenient and easy to understand. The teachers are all excellent

Awesome

This was the best choice I could have made for myself and family. With my circumstances, I was limited as to what I could do. I take care of my sick mother and have a four year old. Being able to do school online could not be better for me. I choose when I want to to be in school and it is easy to communicate with the other students. The teachers are always willing to help with anything. The advisors are very helpful as well.

Ashford University

I love Ashford online school it is the best for Mother who are looking to go back to school. I am in the 5-week course and love it, I just wish that It was a little bit more fast pace but it is the best online school that I found so far. For going to colege for the first time the people at Ashford help out alot.

Online Classes

I love the online class feature. Without this I would not be able to be attending college. The convenience of online classes open a lot of doors for people like me that live far away from any college or university. The online courses are great for anyone with a family, or that has a job. They are easy to understand and the instructors are very helpful if and when needed.

Ashford Workload

I love the fact that a person takes one class at a time. This gives a student time to do a good job in that class without having to worry about other classes, time with family, and work scheduling. The 5 week class length is great as well, it gives a person the knowledge they need, but the yare not getting bored on one subject.

Online Courses (Ashford)

I am on my third online class, and am really enjoying it. The benefits of online courses mean that I can work my schedule around them. As I work part time, and have children, this is an important aspect for me.

Financial Aid

I feel the financial aid personnel are not knowledgable or helpful. I never receive a return call when I leave messages. I also do not receive any acknowledgment of emails. My advisor does not even realize I was awarded a student loan. They also took two months to process my financial aid. They also hold funds. I am very unhappy with the financial aid at this school.

On-Line Courses

I enjoy almost all my classes so far. Peers and meeting other students has proven to be really great. Workload is a bit rough at times, a new class every 5 weeks is lots of work.

Great Experience!!

My first impression of Ashford was great and it has maintained that way since the first day of class. I am currently enrolled in the Online Program to pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Mgmt. I love the one on one action that I receive from the instructors, classmates and my AU contacts. I love the fact that I can contact my financial advisor, enrollment advisor, and my academic advisor with just one number and they know who I am.

Online classes make it easier for you to maintain a job, spend time with family, and further your education.

Convenience Factor...

My classes are online and our workweek begins on Tuesday and ends on Monday night at midnight. This unique week allows me more flexibility because on a conventional 9-5/M-F routine, the deadlines are at the exacttime my family has the rare opputuniy to spend quality time together. For example there is no deadline for friday while my family is alltogether ready for a movie night.

Flexibility

Transferring my credits were very simple. The professors are very understanding and flexible when necessary. They encourage us to ask questions and give examples of the type of work expected on a given assignment.

Financial Aid

My financial aid process is very good. My financial aid counselor is of a great help to me. I do recieve the tuition worth experience.
