I am a middle grades education major and I cannot say enough about how much the program has done for me. Each of the professors has gotten to know me on a personal level and have truly prepared me for the classroom. My supervisors in the field have all been great, and I feel really ready to go out in the teaching field. I have also been given a lot of professional development opportunities that I know I would not have had without Ashland professors showing me what I should do. I love the education department and truly think it is the shining star of AU.

You aren't able to live off campus until you're 22 or if you're considered a commuter living with parents. Some people lie and have a house that their parents own etc but if you get caught there could be some issues. I believe that the student senate is working to lower the age you're allowed to live off campus. But living on campus is nice because its smaller and you can walk everywhere-classes, food, football games etc.

Some people party and some don't. Alcohol is present in the majority of colleges you will look at. Although Ashland is a dry campus, we like to say its dry with puddles. As far as drugs are concerned the students mainly consist of good athletes or intelligent people in general, people who don't have time to waste on drugs. Some people smoke weed, it's college. But honestly if you want to succeed during your time at college you won't get involved in that negative kind of atmosphere.
A lot of the people who I knew that were involved with drugs dropped out early on, we're kicked out due to grades or disciplinary issues, or just don't care about school. As long as you stay involved in some of the many campus life groups Ashland has you will be too busy to concern yourself with those people.

I'm in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling cohort program. It is highly academic from psychological and theological perspectives, but it is also a place that I can worship my Lord through the course work and with my friends there. It is quite challenging, but it is worth investing my life in it.

It is really convenience for me that my school has a campus (away from the main campus) that is in the city I currently reside in. It takes me about 15 min. to commute to the campus from where I live.

Greek is outrageous for pricing, I refuse to pay to be part of Greek Life. However they are fun and throw good parties.

Ashland is very small with little options for a nightlife. There are a few parties to attend, but you must know people to get in to them. The bars are usually where everyone goes, however the cover charges get old.

Campus is strict when it comes to underage drinking and use of drugs. Campus police drive around to check on everything. If you get caught, you immediately get a letter from the school senate, following a small trial, you may opt in writing a letter to the senate explaining the situation. Then if things continue a letter gets sent home to your parents. You may lose your housing situation or get kicked out of school it all depends on the outcome of the situation.

I am sure some people do drugs, but I have never seen or heard of anything big. People are more likely to drink than to than do drugs.

I received a decent amount of financial aid. The financial aid workers are pretty helpful. I would look for some outside scholarships if you can though; there is only so much money they have to give out.

I received a good amount of financial aid but I wish I would have received more. The process was very easy and stress free.

Ashland University does an outstanding job of providing great options of majors and minors. The professors are carefully chosen and are truly passionate about providing the best education that they can. Registration is a very easy processing and its done completely online. Workload is sometimes heavy but nothing over what is generally expected of a students. The small class sizes is what really drew me to the school. I love being able to really know my professors. The most popular areas of study are Nursing, Business and Education.

As an athletic training major I have found that attending practice for football, soccer, volleyball, etc. has been very helpful and I have an increased knowledge and love for my major.

I do not have a car on campus but my friends do. It is a little annoying to have to walk clear to the Samaritan parking lot but it isn't bad at all.
College Sophomore 2013-01-11T20:04:17Z
I have honestly met no one on campus that has done any type of drugs. I know a lot that do drink alcohol on a regular basis but that is it.

The weather is kind of annoying. A lot of the time it rains and campus gets basically flooded. But if you wear rain boots and a raincoat you should be fine.

The computers at Ashland University are reliable, but very slow at times, and some of them in the student centewr are often out of commission.
College Sophomore 2013-01-08T17:56:42Z
I am frequently on campus and I have never personally witnessed anyone using any types of drugs or consuming any types of alcohol. Ive heard stories, but have not actually witnessed anything.

Ashland has many places to live, some just arent as nice as others.

I didn't find the application program hard but there are some essays I had to write. I also had an interview, which is a part of the applicaiton process for counseling students. Overall, it was doable.
College Senior 2012-12-20T02:21:21Z
well... I'm not sure how the weather affects my campus experience... I drive to their Columbus center... probably snow or rain might affect my driving but that doesn't happen as often (which is inconsistent to popular expectation about Ohio weather)
Sorry, there are no reviews.
