The summers and springs are fine, but fall and winter are bad. We get a lot of snow in Worcester, and tons of wind. It rains/snows a lot and generally can keep students holed up in their dorms, but you can get used to the weather.

I came to Assumption looking for a good classics program (Latin and Ancient Greek languages) as well as education. The professor I've had for the two languages is very understanding and a great teacher. I've done a wide variety of work for my classes, including class translations and take home work. The professors are nice, and some will even make the class feel more open and relaxed while still providing good instructions.

Worcester is a large city. While the campus itself is nice, and is located in a quiet part of the city, much of Worcester is full of crowds and shady people. There are many places to go, such as the Art Museum and the other campuses, but Worcester isn't a very attractive place.

There is a wide variety of both team and recreational sports. The teams have runs that are too early in the morning, but other than that, they are open, challenging and competitive.

Under age drinking is not really tolerated but the campus is not a dry campus in certain areas of upper classmen housing. There are local bars and clubs off campus

Health & Safety:
I find it hard to get attention when I feel sick... some times I need to make an appointment for the next day. But they do help me when I go and get me the answers I need.

Assumption offers many majors and also is begining to come out with new majors, minors and concentrations.

Over the three years that I have been here there has been more and more diversity on campus.

Worcester has some attractions like froyo and 12 other colleges, however there is barely any transportation to get off campus besides a school bus on some nights.

The dining hall has very few options and is tiny. The food is not very good. Charlie's is the other option and it is okay, but it is mostly fast food. Dunkin Donuts is there but not really an option for everyday eating.
College Sophomore 2013-03-10T20:15:50Z
There are some computers in the library but it is usually full, and the other computers in IT are old and slow.

The weather here changes quite drastically. Distance from dorm to classroom is no more than 10 minutes walking. It can be inconvienent during snow and rain storms. Walking becomes a little treacherous, especially when walking from upper campus to the classrooms.

Many of the departments are fantastic (ex. Education)! The Gen Ed.'s can be bit tedious, but there are many options for students. There are different academic programs--Tagaste, Foundations, Honor's. Each of these programs is completely unique. The campus itself is beautiful. Campus life is what you make it. If you want to party, you can definitely find something. But if you choose a life away from the college scene, it is easy here. Despite it's infamous "Consumption College" nickname, Assumption is a school that one can avoid the party lifestyle if they so chooses.

There is definitely a strong sense of student involvement on campus. The numerous groups allow every student to get involve somehow. The student center (Hagan) is the center of campus and is always busy! Students can find multiple places to study, which is absolutely fantastic. Events could target larger audiences, but they really do give students a great alternative scene. Not everyone likes to drink and party, so campus events allow students to have fun in alternate settings.

They are very strict with underage drinking. But since you are an adult they make you call your parents and tell them that you got in trouble with the law.
College Sophomore 2013-02-13T21:15:17Z
There are 18 and older clubs that you can go to. So far there has only been one night club really worth going to.
College Sophomore 2013-02-13T21:08:23Z
They have the latest computers in the library and mostly anywhere else computers are available.
College Sophomore 2013-01-23T01:07:48Z
There are some places, but they are not so close to the campus enough. You would have to go 15- 20 minutes to a nice place.

Assumption College make you go trough a drug lesson thing so students are more aware about them. They tell you how people can help each other when someone is drunk for example and other programs or people who can help you if there is a problem. Yes this school has it's parties, but it just depends on the people who you hang out with. Drinking is a popular thing and smoking is a so so.
College Sophomore 2013-01-13T02:01:37Z
The food is okay. The only problem is that they serve same food everyday but if you know how to vary your food choices then you're fine. For example, everyday they offer pizza, pasta, and salad.

If you are religious, and particularly Catholic, there is an identity here that you can relate to, and it feels good. Most students, though, do not follow that path. Academic programs are good, but there are some faculty who have overstayed their usefulness and should move on, but for the most part you will be challenged just enough without making you sick. There's study abroad here, and we just opened a campus in Rome -- very cool.
College Senior 2013-01-12T17:35:17Z
I really like our facilities here. They are not austere, and they are not super spaceship high-tech -- just right. Campus security really is a police force, you feel safe here in facilities and out.
College Senior 2013-01-12T17:33:22Z
Athletics are nice here, depending on the sport, but they are not central to student life as they are in the south. Team Captains are chosen through various means for various teams. A friend of mine found that her team was moderately serious about sport and heavily serious about drinking (her first meeting with team captains was about how to get a fake ID), and coach is pretty chill with that situation. Football is tough for us, but many of us go to support the hard work of the team.

Worcester is rather sketchy honestly. I would be very careful. But, if you take the Woo bus or you're just going to the grocery store or something, then you'll be fine. I would definitely go with others.
There is plenty of shopping.
Certain areas of Worcester are safer than other. Where Assumption is, it's extremely safe.
There are events, but I don't attend them often.
College Junior 2012-12-19T16:59:04Z
The Plourde (the gym) is excellent. They have like-new equipment. The only issue is the top indoor track. It's just a small little track that people run around. It's not that good considering you have to run around it 9 times to complete a mile. The library and IT are excellent places to sit and do work. You can definitely complete tons of homework at these locations. Campus events/traditions are always fun too; we don't have too many, but they are definitely worth attending.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
