Tips for Earning Credits
Attending ACCC part-time in high school is a great way to get started earning college credits.
Academic/Testing Requirements
No specific GPA is required to enter Atlantic Cape, but a placement test is required for those who placed lower that a 530 on math or English when taking the SATs.
Transferring Credits In & Out
Applying to transfer credits is a simple process that requires a form found on the school webpage. Follow up a transfer request with a phone call to the main campus, because transcripts often are not sent on time.
Work & Life Experience Credits
Atlantic Cape is partnered with some nearby schools to provide an opportunity to earn college credits while attending high school. While these credits are fairly simple to transfer, other credits, such as life or work experience, do not count toward classes or degrees.
Typical Session Length
A typical class lasts throughout a whole semester, such as fall or spring. A typical semester is 15 weeks long.
Class Style & Structure
Professors at Atlantic Cape Community College often begin their classes with a lecture or lesson, followed by an individual or group activity. In many courses, student discussion is encouraged, as well as group work. Quizzes and homework are very important in most classes because they make up a large part of the course grade.
Course Registration Process
Students can register for classes either online or at one of the Atlantic Cape campuses. Registration is held on specific days and often takes a long time for most students. Arriving early and having a large chunk of time available to wait is recommended.
Did You Know?
- Atlantic Cape Community College is a good choice for any student, whether they are the just out of high school type or the thirty-something student returning to school for a new career. Those students that do not have transportation can easily take public transport to and from any ACCC campus. The campuses offer a wide varitety of events and classes, so every student attending can find a niche and a group of friends very easily.
- When looking for specific classes that apply to a major, students should arrive and apply early on registration dates. Classes often fill fast, and not many sections are available on smaller campuses, such as the Cape May and Atlantic City campuses.
