The online classes at Atlantic Cape are very student-oriented. Students often rely on one another when completing assignments, and courses can sometimes become more of a peer learning session than an actual college class if the professor is not involved. Many times, the professors are there through email to answer questions and to discuss issues with students, but are otherwise nonexistent.
Online courses are a great way to earn credits "on the go," but it is not as easy to take a course on a complicated subject, such as math, as it is to complete an English assignment. The courses themselves are very simple and easy to navigate and are a good option for students that must complete Atlantic Cape Community College core requirements, such as history, that may not relate to their majors. Class assignments for most of ACCC online courses are set up in a schedule that says when specific assignments are due, and some professors use other online systems besides Blackboard (the Atlantic Cape online classroom website), such as turnitin.com, to recieve assignments and to check for plagarism.
