The weather at Auburn University is very diverse. At the beginning of Fall semester, it is still hot and humid from the Alabama summer. However, it soon cools off to a comfortable Fall feeling around September. The Winters are somewhat cold, and Spring always feels amazing. You could honestly not ask for better weather while at Auburn.

General Campus Aesthetics – The campus pf Auburn University is by far, the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. It is always clean on campus, and even off campus, the streets are sanitary. The incorporation of trees found from all over the state help make Auburn's campus unique, and beautiful.

The professors at Auburn University are some of the best around. They are friendly, helpful, and will always go out of their way to help you out. The professors make you think for yourself, and research material on your own, instead of spoon-feeding you information in a powerpoint. They know their material, and how to present it. They want you to succeed here.

Guys & Girls:
Fraternities and Sororities – They are huge at this school. If you aren't in one, I can guarantee you'll have at least 10 friends that are. Most girls on campus are pretty attractive. They also seem to be pretty smart too. I can't speak for their common sense, but they seem to do okay in the classroom. My girlfriend from high school is here and couldn't be happier. Every night there are couples holding hands going for walks around campus. So whether you're looking for a committed relationship or just a one-night stand, you'll have no trouble finding either at Auburn.

Get the Village! The Hill and the Quad are your basic college dorms. Two to a room, two rooms share a bathroom. The Village was just put in a year or two ago and are unbelievable. They are basically on-campus apartments. And they are close to everything on campus, even the stadium. While it may cost a bit more than the other dorms or living off-campus, it's completely worth it for the comfort and convenience.

Research Profs Knowledgeable – The professors at Auburn are mostly very experienced and involved in research projects. Some are more devoted to the research than to teaching which can be a problem. These usually defer to their TAs to assist students. Others are more approachable and are interested in investing in the student to see them succeed.

Big School, Small Town – Auburn is a small community that probably would not exist without the university. Close-by Opelika is a bit larger and home to some industry. The atomosphere there more of a southern US working town with all the typical restaurant chains and retail stores. Auburn is home to a few of the same near the interstate and has a couple of charming local favorites for a burger or lemonade across the street from Samford Hall. It has a quiet and calm atmosphere for the majority of the year, but when football season rolls around, Auburn can become a crowded, bustling, and exciting place. Tailgating is a tradition that has to be experienced, with Tiger fans willing to share the products off the grill or the ice-cold beverage from the cooler. "War Eagle!" is a greeting among Auburn fans, alumni, and students alike and most will say that Auburn is the prettiest town on the plains.

The reason that Auburn. Alabama exists is because Auburn University exists. The town loves the college, and many local businesses will offer coupons on campus to students or collaborate with the campus to offer a discount to students.
There isn't a ton of stuff to do in the town itself. Lots of shopping for orange and blue things. There's a small band scene that plays at the local bars, but if you're a freshman, beware: 19 is the Alabama equivalent of 18. You can't be in a bar, even if you're not drinking, until you're 19.
The eating is great just in the downtown area. I haven't explored it much elsewhere because I'm pretty busy, but within walking distance of the campus there's a bakery, a Mellow Mushroom pizza place, a Five Guys Burgers and Fries... you will not go hungry here.
The town is small and charming. If you need a ton of stuff to do other than college, it's not the right town for you. On the other hand, if you really want to be in a city, Montgomery is less than an hour away, and Atlanta is a mere two hour drive.

We rarely have any severe weather. It may snow once during the winter months which can call for a cancellation of classes. About every other year or so we may have a tornado scare.

Greek life is very popular at Auburn and is an excellent way to meet new people. However, typically your group of friends will never extend beyond those in your own sorority. Also, dues are very expensive.

Health & Safety:
Campus Safety – Campus is very well-lit at all hours. All around campus are special security buzzers than can used to alert police if you find yourself in an unsafe situation. However, there are very few security officers on patrol.

Being at Auburn gives you a surreal feeling. Its just a great place to be, with great people.
Frat Life is gonna be sick, and the Co-Op program is excellent. Got me into a Full Time job @ $15.50 an hour just as a Freshman. Outstanding.

Ticket fairies will get you for anything at any time of the day. There wasn't enough parking for the Hill (where I lived Freshman year), so the parking lot would be full almost at all times. Only other parking is >1 mile away. C'mon Auburn...

If you live on campus, you can walk to almost anywhere on campus within 15 minutes. If you live off campus, there is Tiger Transit which is the bus service paid for through the University. The transits go to almost all apartment complexes and run from morning till 6. They run every 15 minutes. There are also Tiger transits that run to the shopping centers (not as frequently). You can get a parking pass and drive to campus, just make sure you get there with time to find a spot. After 6pm, the Night shuttle runs around campus, and you just call it to pick you up. I still recommend having a car since it is more convenient at times.

Most of the bars are just off campus, so if you live close to campus you can walk. Most of the nights the bars are 21 and up, but Wednesday nights are 19+. I am not 21 yet, so i dont go to the bars. The fraternities always have parties, and the frat houses are just off campus. Auburn has a night security shuttle that you can call to pick you up at night if you are around campus. Apartment parties are a little smaller, and more personable groups, and cheaper than going to the bars. Just make sure you have a DD.

There are many core requirements which can take away time from core classes. The core classes cover a wide range of knowledge which is beneficial as an overall education, but not always needed for particular majors. Some core classes can be hard to get into because all students are required to take them. Since I am now in my major, Industrial Design, the classes are much smaller, and I know all my professors really well, and they are always excited to help with any problem. My major does not require much study time since it is more studio and project based, but there are many good study places on campus. Residence halls have study rooms, which I used often my freshman year.

Expensive on Campus Living – When I lived on campus my freshmen year, it was pretty good. The university does a great job in pairing you up with a great roommate. We got a long well. What I didn't enjoy was the meal plan we all were forced to use. The overall on campus living was extremely expensive. It is a lot cheaper to live off campus, but overall, I would recommend any freshmen to live on campus their first year. It is a great way to meet new people/get to know the campus.

The Auburn library is a great place to go for group projects or studying alone. It is huge, so there is always a place for quietness if you need it. Also, there are a lot of computers to use. For group studying, white boards are available, and there is a lot of space. Also, coffee in the library is every college kid's dream.

LOTS to Offer – There are LOTS of great restaurants within walking distance of the main campus that have decent prices and many even offer student discounts. No matter your preference, there is something nearby for everybody. I thought, as a vegetarian, I would have a hard time finding decent food but I could not have been more wrong. lots to offer!

Whether you need to print or write a paper for class, Auburn offers great resources to do so. The library is conveniently located on campus and is open late, so resources are always available. In the library and student center there are several computer labs, so no matter what time you go there is usually a computer available so that you can get your work done.

Great Outdoors – Auburn has a lot to offer outdoors. There is Chewacla State Park just a few minutes from campus, offering great hiking trails and beautiful scenery. Also, there are a lot of safe running trails around in and around campus.

Blue and Orange – Auburn is really into sports, especially football. There is always a lot of school spirit and fan support to sports teams. There is not a day that i go to school without seeing at least a hundred people with some kind of auburn logo going across their shirt or pants leg.

Always Available for Help – I came to Auburn University because it has an architecture program, the campus is great, and most of the professors I have had have been close to amazing. They are available to answer questions and give you extra help with course work. Class discussion is encouraged in smaller classes and makes it worth going to class.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
