Auburn is a small town college with a big town feel. Some classes, like English, won't have more than 30 people, and others, like History, have between 200 and 300. The layout itself is easy to navigate, and with the exception of a handfull of classes, it's very walkable--but that's what the transit's for. Downtown Auburn is close by and is within walking distance of the campus. While it's nice to have a car, most of the time, it's not really necessary. There is a mandatory meal plan, but there are also a lot of options to choose from. Our big rival is Alabama, and the football tickets go fast. Take a tour at Auburn, and pretty soon you'll be saying WAR EAGLE!

We Can Let Loose (Never Fear) – The main drug of choice here in Auburn is alcohol. It's a college town so this isn't too surprising. Drinking can get a bit much, but the city has a good police presence and provides late night bussing so there is less drinking/driving. The other drug that is visible here is MaryJ (weed), but it's not really concerning.

Now, Auburn is a little bitty town; you have to get pretty creative when trying to enjoy your free nights! They have a few bars that play music, but still allow for friendly conversation. BUT what Auburn is seriously lacking are cool, fun spots to dance the week's stress away!

Tiger Network – Auburn is chock-full of computers!! First off, the campus library has computers available to everyone. The only thing is, they could use more computer stations. What's more is that each department has at least one computer lab (mine has two!). One is allotted a certain amount of free prining from their respective departments (calculated based on the amount of hours you are enrolled for)! As a graduate student, you have access to graduate labs with free, unlimited printing! Awesome. So grab your User name and Password and War Eagle!

In Spring of 2011, I started a Master's in Adult Education. What really sold me on the program was the instructors. They are extremely knowledgeable and have a heart for teaching. They give real life examples along with teaching the material. I am looking to go on for my doctorate when I am finished because of the instructors.

Love It – I really enjoy Auburn. I am in a tough curriculum, so I can't party during the week. But I enjoy going out on the weekends and working hard during the week. The campus is relatively laid back and people are friendly. You don't have to join a frat or sorority to have fun and make friends, which is a plus to me.

Parking on campus can be terrrible, unless you are a teacher or graduate student. All undergrad students get the same zone parking, and it can be impossible to find a spot during peak class hours. If you have to drive to school, schedule classes early for your best shot at parking. However, the flip side to this is the transit system is great and goes to every major off-campus housing area. It is quick and efficient.

I Never Lived on Campus – I didn't live on campus. As long as the transit system goes to your complex/house, then I would rather be off campus. It is just more fun in my opinion. If you are the bookworm type, living on campus will provide you with a lot of friends.

I didn't get all of the financial aid I needed, so I had to manage and make due with what I had.

Guys & Girls:
Everything Seems Uniform – All guys and girls at Auburn University seem to wear the same thing everyday as if it were a uniform. But there are great people there.

Parking and Tiger Transit – Parking at Auburn University is horrible. They most definitely sell more hang tags that there are parking spaces. Tiger Transit is a good form of transportation to campus but it also takes a long time to get there.

Auburn, AL has a huge variety of off-campus dining establishments. Many of the restaurants are convienient to campus and some offer student discounts. There are all type of restaurants that serve different ethnicity types of food. The cost at off-campus restaurants is much more reasonably priced than the on-campus food options.

Doesn't Effect It – Mild weather but does get hot during spring and summer months

99% Amazing! 1% Horrible! Auburn experiences a wide range of weather, from tornadoes to Blue-Bird skies for weeks on end! In the Spring, Summer and Fall, storms are highly likely, followed by cooling wind and all-time epic temperatures!
Winter-time is the hardest because of the humidity from the Gulf of Mexico on top of freezing and blustery winds from the Northern states. Also, there tends to be consistent rain in the winter, but this is few and far between.

personally I am not involved in any way with the Greek Life at Auburn. Although many people who are involved in Greek Life are friendly and eager to become acquainted, there lies a very exclusive, and often rude, enclave that would rather ridicule people for not having the same beliefs/style than be understanding and friendly. Not a big fan.

Health Promotion: Social Health Care Specialization – The Health Promotion Program at Auburn University is a top-notch program. With nationally recognized professors, such as Dr. Bruce Gladde, Dr. Daniel Blessing and Dr. Peter Grandjean (Now at Baylor- Waco, Texas)- Auburn's Health Promotion program offers classes in Exercise Technology, Health Promotion in the Work Place and challenging internships within the school, as well as at East Alabama Medical Center's Cardiology Department(Which was my internship). The workload is entirely do-able and highly achievable, but requires a lot of dedication to fully gain and understand it. The facilities at Auburn University are sometimes a bit behind par, but are more than adequate with state of the art imaging equipment (DEXA) and new clinical exercise testing equipment.

Most of the nightlife in Auburn is open to students of all ages, though drinks and some clubs require to be over 21. There are many close to campus, along with the local frat houses always having concerts and parties going on all the time.

Guys & Girls:
Hot Chicks No Dicks – You’ll find all sorts of guys at Auburn: city boys, ravers, rednecks, and lots of good ol’ country boys, too. The girls are pretty much just Southern belles. They are incredibly hot, for the most part. If you aren’t from around here, it’ll take a little while to get used to the accent.

Auburn is a great school. There is a good balance of social interactions and working. Classes are difficult, this is one of the hardest schools to get an A in, but they are manageable. But Auburn does a great job of making sure their graduates are well prepared and that they can find jobs.

Tiger Transit – Auburn provides a bus system that shuttles students in major areas off campus to the school. There is usually a bus every 15 minutes and it does not require purchasing any extra passes.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
