A good word of advice from students: don’t drink and drive, and don’t get caught with drugs. Campus police have no tolerance for catching people driving under the influence or in possession of drugs. Other than that, students claim that campus strictness isn’t that bad. Just use your head to decide what the right thing to do is. Don’t let your party get out of hand, or you may expect a little visit from the cops.

Again, just use common sense. Get a friend to drive you home if you’ve had too much to drink. Also, if you delve into drugs, do it at your own risk.

Drinking: it depends on the cop and the situation. They’re strict on open-container (in the car) laws, as well as drinking and driving, but they’re not busting parties all the time or anything like that. Drugs: zero tolerance.

As much as they say Auburn is a ‘dry’ campus, there are still some problems with drinking. At campus functions, drugs and alcohol are a big no-no, and I’ve never seen a problem with keeping that under control. The bars have moved to make underage drinking stricter, and they tend to run pretty tight control on that. At football games, all rules disappear.

Campus police are pretty strict about drinking and drugs. That doesn’t mean that you can’t go out and have fun, but they are there to watch out and make sure everything is cool. It’s not a problem at all, and it helps out a lot.

So far, it seems like the strictness around here isn’t that bad. I live in the dorms, and I see people get away with all kinds of stuff, from having burnt wicks to letting guys stay past midnight (guest curfew for members of opposite sex). Most RAs or DAs are pretty lenient about rules around the dorms. And, at parties and such, the police usually won’t bother you unless you’re getting rowdy. So, just be respectful and you shouldn’t have a problem.

The campus is technically dry, but during home football games, all the rules are broken and they are not very strict. You cannot buy alcohol in the games, but everyone sneaks it in and you get good and drunk before the game. If you live on campus, then drinking is not allowed in the dorm rooms, but everyone does it. If you get caught, then you just get written up, or if you have a cool RA, they just make you throw it away or take it out of the dorms. Drugs are not allowed anywhere and they are very strict if you are caught with drugs, on or off campus; technically, Auburn can kick you out of school. Never smoke in your dorm room; only in the car or at friends’ apartments off campus.
