Quick Stats

School Slang

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Bring a rain coat (for all seasons)
  • Don’t skip class
  • Get involved in lots of different activities and clubs
  • Pay parking fees right away
  • Print out assignments early.
  • Register car or bike with the University
  • Register for classes and football tickets as soon as possible
  • Sign up for housing very early
  • Tailgate before every football game
  • Talk to professors
Tips to Succeed
  • Don’t party too hard on weeknights. Part of college is having the freedom to do whatever you want. You should definitely take advantage of that freedom, but use your head wisely. If you know that you have a test at 8 a.m. the next morning, then you probably shouldn’t go bar hopping the night before.
  • Go to class! Yes, you’ve probably heard it from your teachers and parents a million times, but in most cases, just making a presence in class will help your grade more than not showing up at all.
  • Go to football games, even if you don't like football. Auburn in the fall is completely focused on football. Parties, social events, and often tests are scheduled around football games so be sure to get in the Auburn spirit. WAR EAGLE!
  • Talk to your professors if you have any questions. That’s what they are there for. In a lot of cases, professors will be willing to help you out on a test grade or homework assignment if you have a legitimate reason for questioning it.

All in! WAR EAGLE!!

The city of Auburn is a quiet town, perfect for families, so the campus coincides with this tradition. As soon as you step on campus, whether you are a current student or potential student, you feel right at home and at ease. The occupants of campus are extremely nice & helpful. And you can always find an event going on on campus to help you settle in your home away from home.

Indescribable

Being at Auburn gives you a surreal feeling. Its just a great place to be, with great people.

Frat Life is gonna be sick, and the Co-Op program is excellent. Got me into a Full Time job @ $15.50 an hour just as a Freshman. Outstanding.

Facts

Traditions
  • Hey Day: A day when students all over campus are given a nametag and everyone says hello to each other that day. Hey Day is meant to promote the fact that Auburn’s campus is so friendly.
  • Homecoming: Homecoming is a special day for current Auburn students and alumni alike. Homecoming is celebrated in the fall with lots of celebration, a big football game, and the outcome of the Miss Homecoming contest.
  • Nova: Before each home game starts, fans simultaneously shout one big, “War Eagle,” as Nova, the Bald Eagle, circles the stadium several times and then lands on the field.
  • Rolling Toomer’s Corne: The most ostentatious and well-liked tradition at Auburn is that of rolling Toomer’s Corner. After every win during the football season, the people of Auburn gather in the streets and toss rolls of toilet paper all over the large tree that stands on Toomer’s Corner. During especially big wins against other large SEC teams, the entire corner is covered—the tree, the streets, and even the traffic lights are buried in toilet paper.
Urban Legends
  • Playboy magazine ranked Auburn’s girls in the top 10 in the nation.
  • Rumor has it that if an Auburn student steps foot on the university seal, located in front of Langdon Hall, then that student will not graduate from Auburn.
  • The Chapel, located on the corner of College Street and Thach Avenue, is haunted by an old Confederate soldier who was killed during the Civil War.
