People Dress Comfortably

The girls at Auburn are very attractive, but they dress in sweats and comfortable clothes most of the time and do not try to show off their looks.

There are a lot of pretty people at Auburn. Most people are healthy and attractive. Everyone pretty much looks the same though. A lot of frat boys and sorority girls.

Fraternities and Sororities

They are huge at this school. If you aren't in one, I can guarantee you'll have at least 10 friends that are. Most girls on campus are pretty attractive. They also seem to be pretty smart too. I can't speak for their common sense, but they seem to do okay in the classroom. My girlfriend from high school is here and couldn't be happier. Every night there are couples holding hands going for walks around campus. So whether you're looking for a committed relationship or just a one-night stand, you'll have no trouble finding either at Auburn.

Get the Village!

The Hill and the Quad are your basic college dorms. Two to a room, two rooms share a bathroom. The Village was just put in a year or two ago and are unbelievable. They are basically on-campus apartments. And they are close to everything on campus, even the stadium. While it may cost a bit more than the other dorms or living off-campus, it's completely worth it for the comfort and convenience.

Big School, Small Town

Auburn is a small community that probably would not exist without the university. Close-by Opelika is a bit larger and home to some industry. The atomosphere there more of a southern US working town with all the typical restaurant chains and retail stores. Auburn is home to a few of the same near the interstate and has a couple of charming local favorites for a burger or lemonade across the street from Samford Hall. It has a quiet and calm atmosphere for the majority of the year, but when football season rolls around, Auburn can become a crowded, bustling, and exciting place. Tailgating is a tradition that has to be experienced, with Tiger fans willing to share the products off the grill or the ice-cold beverage from the cooler. "War Eagle!" is a greeting among Auburn fans, alumni, and students alike and most will say that Auburn is the prettiest town on the plains.

Auburn's Greek Life

Greek life is great at Auburn! Most of the sororities are extremely involved on campus, and the fraternities always throw GREAT parties. The only thing is, people are judged based on if they're greek or not. Greeks tend to be more social and involved, and it's hard to find someone out that's not greek.

Auburn Campus Housing

Living on campus is great. You're right near everything and getting to the opposite side of campus is only about a 25-30 minute walk, but Auburn even has a transit system so getting where you want to go would only take 15 minutes max. Auburn's Village housing is probably the best college living in the country, since instead of just a room, the Village is more like an apartment where one gets their own room. Auburn is expanding the Village dorms in order to house more students. Other than the Village, Auburn's housing is relatively average, but the location of the quad is prime for rolling out of bed five minutes before class.

Auburn Marketing Undergraduate

Auburn has an extremely thorough core curriculum, so when going to Auburn, you know you'll come out of there with not just a degree, but a really well-rounded education, which most employers look for. Although Auburn is relatively easy to get into, the application process and acceptance rate does not at all reflect the rigor of the academics. Moneywatch compares Auburn's difficulty to MIT, Princeton University, and Purdue in the top 16 "Colleges and Universities with the Toughest Grades," based off of gradeinflation.com. The average GPA at Auburn is about a 2.65. So although you may get an acceptance letter from Auburn, don't expect it to be as easy as getting your acceptance letter.

We Can Let Loose (Never Fear)

The main drug of choice here in Auburn is alcohol. It's a college town so this isn't too surprising. Drinking can get a bit much, but the city has a good police presence and provides late night bussing so there is less drinking/driving. The other drug that is visible here is MaryJ (weed), but it's not really concerning.

I Never Lived on Campus

I didn't live on campus. As long as the transit system goes to your complex/house, then I would rather be off campus. It is just more fun in my opinion. If you are the bookworm type, living on campus will provide you with a lot of friends.

Best School Ever

I love it here. Fall semesters are always tough with football season distracting from the studying, but always a great time. There is a lot of traditions unique to the school that makes coming here and being a part of it the best experience ever. (the warm weather compared to my N. Il. hometown is great)

Auburn Life

When coming to Auburn you become part of something much larger than a university. It is more of a family. From the get go the local treat you like they have known you your entire life, it truly is southern hospitality at its best. Auburn is also an incredibly safe campus, with night security and shuttles throughout campus. And last but not least is Auburn Football, it is practically life, an aspect that gets in your veins and becomes part of you.

The Loveliest Village on the Plains

Auburn is set in east Alabama, about 40 minutes from the Georgia line. It is considered in the "plains" of Alabama, which is a vast area of semi-flat land. The most beneficial product of being set in the plains are the beautiful sunsets. They are a nightly occurrence that never cease to disappoint. The local atmosphere is of genuine hospitality. This hospitality was recently honored in an article written by visitors from South Carolina, who had come in town for a football game. Even though their team lost the game, they made a point to highlight the true hospitable nature of Auburn Men and Women. The Auburn Creed is not merely a document, but a lifestyle illustrated by those who attend.

Parking: Something Needs to Be Fixed!

The parking situation is awful. The car will be ticketed or towed no matter how long the car was parked. It can be parked for 5 min and guaranteed one will have a ticket on the windshield. One has to come when the classes let out to ensure a parking spot. Honestly the best thing is to leave your car at home and take the Tiger transit. Either way you have to ensure at least 30 minutes to park your car or take the transit to get to class on time.

It's a very small town. I'm from Auburn originally, and it's a very beautiful and unique town atmosphere. There is a community college nearby called Southern Union. There isn't a ton of things to do because this is a relatively small city, but there are fun bars and lots of nice places to go to hang out!

Public transportation to campus is pretty reliable, but I never take it. The Tiger Transit routes take a long time, and you end up having to leave for class really early. The parking on campus sucks, though, so this is basically the only option.
