There are plenty of majors to choose from and members of each department are there to help you choose yours.

There are plenty of computers available on campus but most students prefer to have their own.

The drugs and alcohol vary where you are at Augustana College. If people are doing drugs they are usually smoking, because drinking is the more popular activity on campus for socializing, although it is not necessary.

Greek life is the main way into parties but they do more than just that. They partake in planning campus wide activities for students to do on weekends as well as fundraisers to help with local charities. If you are not part of Greek life, that is okay because you can still enjoy what they do, while doing what you choose to do with your social life.

There are many computers available at Augustana College, and they are not in too high demand during the crunch times of midterms and finals. Most people do have their own laptops because it is easier to access information from dorms considering the computer labs are located in the library and not in the dorms. The wifi and internet connection are quite strong on campus which is nice for quick research.

My school has many services available to all students throughout the year. Services include a Community Engagement Center designed to help students with resumes, setting up and giving mock interviews, finding internships on and off campus, etc. The business program is huge at my school so this service has been a big help to those students. Plus the location of my school in the Quad Cities provides numerous career opportunities alike. My school is a small liberal arts school but the social scene and campus like has been amazing. Students and faculty are always so opening and inviting. It doesn't matter whether or not you're in Greek like or not. Diversity is constantly being promoted, one way in which I have experienced that is being involved with the international students program and helping them to immerse into the "American" life. It has been a wonderful experience for me personally because we always have a really diverse group of students come in from all over the world who each bring something different to the table.

Rock Island, IL is a major part of the Quad Cities so there are always places to go to and things to do off campus. A lot of the venues can be reached either by walking or taking a bus for free. On campus activities and clubs are constantly being promoted so it's easy to find something to do. My school is very big on promoting diversity. Davenport, IA is also a fun city just over the river to visit for the museums and restaurants. The Quad Cities are big on hosting events such as triathlons and cultural festivals that attract tons of visitors and students alike.

I go to Augustana College and I'm a chemistry major, math minor. I've had wonderful instructors in the chemistry department but the program itself hasn't been entirely great. It's difficult to get into the classes I need due to the demand of them. It is also extremely difficult to find research on and off campus to complete the senior inquiry major requirement. Overall my experience has been just ok.

If you are not a heavy drinker/ party-er, this is not the right school for you. The entire local scene revolves around parties, unfortunately.

My parents come to visit regularly throughout the year and don't have troubles finding spaces. On-campus parking is somewhat limited but there is plenty of parking in the surrounding area. The college allow you to have a car on campus temporarily without buying a pass which has been a nice convenience for me.

The routers are under powered for the number of people using them. Wireless is nearly impossible. The ethernet connection seems to be the best option but then you are limited to where you can be.

There are a wide variety of majors at Augustana College. Getting into my major was not a problem at all. The advisors told me what classes I needed to talk to start my specific classes for the major (since we have a lot of Business Programs), and they have a lot of great options to figure out what kind of courses interests you that relate to your major and which classes will relate to a future career.

There are buses always running by our school. We also have our own escort service at night so people are not walking anywhere alone. We also have a program that picks up students and takes them to the mall if they don't have cars. Parking can be hard to find in certain places though

I personally have not have this experience, but I have an older sister who also goes to Augustana. She said finding off-campus housing, and if you have a good landlord, he will understand about prices and they usually aren't that bad. Some are close to campus, while others can be far away.

There are a lot of areas where you can gain internet access, but sometimes the WiFi in the houses and dorms can be really slow. You always are able to find a computer without waiting too long, and the technology is really advanced so everything is always up to date.

I wouldn't be able to attend without the scholarships I received. They were pretty reasonable. I had a little more trouble with the loans inferred in my financial aid package

I haven't used it but I know people who have and they're pretty happy with it.

Its a pretty safe campus as long as you dont venture off into the wrong areas

Augustana College is located in Rock Island, IL which is one of the Quad-Cities. The Quad-Cities offer a variety of things to do such as the I-wireless Center which has many great concerts (I just attended Maroon 5 not too long ago) and plenty of educational attractions as well. The Figge Art Museum is free with your student ID and the Putnum Museum has an I-Max theatre!

At Augustana you have to live on campus for the first 3 years unless you are commuting from your parent's house. Senior year you are "highly encouraged" to live off campus because of this many of the houses right next to campus are rented out to college seniors. If you put forth effort early then there is no problem finding a nice convenient place near campus. Watch out though because some students start signing leases as early as spring of their sophomore year.
College Senior 2013-07-08T21:13:05Z
There are plenty of computers and printers on campus unless it is reaching the end of term! We have 2 special labs for Graphic Design and Multi-Media Journalism majors that have everything you need. Tuition includes money on a paper-cut account that allows you to print from campus printers. I have been attending this school for 3 years and have never had to put additional money in to my paper-cut account. Both the technology building and the library loan computers out to students for free. The technology building loans out a variety of other devices as well and is able to print on a large scale.
My rating is a B because although Augustana is updating its WiFi to be available in all dorms, their signal has been known to be unreliable and if you desire to watch anything on youtube or have a skype date- I wish you the best of luck!

I can't speak for other majors, but I studied Education and the program is stellar. There just aren't words for how well the Education department at Augie prepares future teachers for their careers. Plenty of clinical hours to get real-world experience, a challenging curriculum, engaged and passionate professors. It wasn't uncommon for potential employers to comment on the reputation of the program during my job interviews

Honestly, it's not hard at all to find some pot or a good game of BP if that's what you're looking for. If that's not your scene, though, there's plenty of other stuff to do. I have not once felt pressured to try any kind of substance, and I don't personally smoke, though I have a couple friends who do. When it comes to the variety of drugs...it's really just weed.

Greek life is pretty active on campus, and members of Greek groups tend to have a strong presence at the school. They do a TON of service, and host a lot of events for the entire school to partake in. There are also a lot of Greek-hosted parties throughout the year (except during pledging season in the Spring). Even with a big Greek life, though, it's not a huge deal to choose to opt out of joining a group, especially with so many other clubs to join on campus.

The housing is rather expensive for my college. To be honest, the money is not worth the space that is provided to you. Some houses are dirty and run down while others are perfectly fine. The housing is just plain inconsistent and too expensive. Also, the housing process that consists of random lottery number picks is just terrible in my opinion. it should not be a random process, it should be chosen by student preference in addition to those who are financially able to pay.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
