It's absolutely wonderful. The school itself is focused on academics, but the professors and coached are even more concerned. They all really care about you succeeding and it's hard not to do so because of their support.

The dining service are changing, but generally there's the same theme, Mexican, Italian for certain nights so it can get kind of old. however, I really like the food and they're a lot of healthy choices.

The parking is costly, and the locations aren't the greatest with how many people tend to bring cars. But there are always spots to park and even spots on the streets that are free.

Guys & Girls:
The guys and girls on campus are fun, friendly, and smart. Most of the people come from the Chicago area, but we get some others too. But they're all friendly, and most are attractive if you're looking for your future soul mate.

Augie is going to open the Center for Student Life in fall 2013. Watching the construction go on throughout the year was exciting and it looks very promising. Right now the College Center is quite popular, and the library and the Brew are always busy and full of friends. There are so many clubs to join. The most popular activity on campus would have to be Bingo. I know it sounds dorky, but the entire school shows up and everyone gets really into it, especially since you could win up to $500.

If you are legal drinking age, there are a few bars and clubs around Moline and Davenport. If not, there's not really any teen clubs in the area, but the frats have open parties just about every week.
College Sophomore 2013-06-07T18:04:34Z
Augie has a lot of things that make it really unique, such as the CEC office that focuses just on helping students find internships and careers. Student jobs are easy to come by, and there are lots of opportunities in the Quad City area.

Augustana gives out a lot of scholarships. Even though I didn't have the best high school GPA, they still gave me a good amount of money based on my essay. There are also lots of other scholarships available, particularly for music and art. Keep an eye out for when the auditions or portfolio reviews are.

The housing is in very poor state and the administration is incredibly unorganized.
College Sophomore 2013-05-20T05:07:18Z
At Augie, there's an entire organization that's dedicated to helping students find internships. In addition, you could also ask any of the professors or advisors to receive additional internship advice. In the fall and spring, you can't seem to go anywhere without seeing a few garter snakes, if you're into that kind of thing. Also, as far as campus life goes, there's never a dull moment because there's literally always some kind of concert or event going on that you can attend.

The athletics at Augie, I imagine, are better than other division III schools can offer. I, personally, aren't on a sports team as of yet, but my roommate is on the track team and I'm good friends with lots of the other track members. From what I understand, all of the coaches are all friendly and helpful and you can confront them on anything, even if it's not sports related.

For the most part, my school isn't all that strict. Security doesn't go around busting people just because they feel like it. If you follow the rules, you won't get in trouble. It's as simple as that.
College Sophomore 2013-04-25T21:57:32Z
The campus is okay. In the fall it's pretty nice but the centers are average.
College Sophomore 2013-04-25T21:54:27Z
It's not that big. Alcohol is more of a problem. There are groups of drug users but they are separate.
College Sophomore 2013-04-25T21:52:08Z
There are definitely good and bad professors but it all depends on registration.

Food is usually good and many choices available. If you do not use all of your meal plan/flex $$ they reimburse you at the end of the school year.

Athletics are important to the school. We are in process of redoing the football field, LaCrosse had a brand new field/stadium done last year which is located next to Pepisco which is where our training and weight rooms facilities are housed along with hosting various events.
College Senior 2013-04-24T17:11:06Z
The security is pretty strict on underage drinking and campus parties. Everyone is guilty by association.

There are many local social Greek groups on campus. There are also service greek groups, like Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Alpha Phi Omega, and national greek groups, like Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Mu Alpha and Alpha Psi Omega.

Great financial aid, just wish it was a little more.

Mostly white, high number of international students and few minorities

Augustana has a very unique local Greek life. There are seven social frats and seven social sororities. Augustana also has chapters of national service, music, and academic frats and sororities. Some date back to the early 1900s and some were made in 2012. Each has is it own benefits and unique groups of people. Contrary to popular beliefs about Greek Life, at Augustana it is much more than the party people. Augustana Greeks tend to be leaders in the other groups on campus often serving as team captains and club presidents. The Greek system is one of the easiest way to participate in intramural sports. The Greek communities average GPAs are always higher then the student body average. All Greeks are required to do minimum community service and many for exceed those requirements. For the older frats and sororities there are great opportunities for networking with alumni, who come back to visit frequently. Many professors that are Augie alum were part of the Greek system when they attended. A majority of students on campus participate in Greek life. Of those that don't, most have many friends in the Greek system since its a small school and everyone intermingles. There is a small minority of independent students who hate on the Greek system, but this is mostly due to their lack of involvement or understanding and view that it is nothing but a bunch of drunk idiots. To be fair, Greeks do work hard but they also party hard, which is where this idea comes from. But just because you are drunk at 7am on a Saturday one weekend does not mean you didn't ace that test last week or dominate in your sport the weekend before.

Augustana is made up of mostly white suburban kids. However there are various minority groups on campus, a surprising amount of international students, and huge support for the LGBT community.

Bars are 21 and over but there is plenty going on on campus to keep the younger crowd happy. The Quad Cities has tons of cheap concerts and the cost of entertainment is very cheap. Frats and different sports offer great open parties. There are always free events on campus if you look for them.
College Junior 2013-03-19T18:19:29Z
Public Transportation is pretty good around Augie. There is a bus system that runs throughout the quad cities and is free with student ID. This comes in handy when students want to venture to the District in downtown Rock Island or shopping venues like the North and South Park mall
Sorry, there are no reviews.
