The Education department at Augustana is excellent. They get you out into the schools right away during the 110 course, and continue to fill your resume with experiences at different local schools. Some of our professors have been teachers in the local district for many years, so they know what is required of being a teacher, and keep up to date on the most recent education breakthroughs.

Guys & Girls:
Augustana definitely attracts a certain type of student to their school, usually white women who did really well in high school. There are way more women than men at the school. However, in the past few years the International Student program has really taken off and we get students from many different countries!

Sioux Falls is a great city for Augustana to be located in. There are several attractions located here, such as the waterfalls at Falls Park, the Japanese Garden attraction, and the Washington Pavilion downtown has many exhibits and shows that bring people from all over to Sioux Falls.
Augustana has a big rivalry with University of Sioux Falls, which is located only a block away from our campus.

The professors are very good, and most classes are quite academically challenging. Registration is online, so it is not very stressful. The most popular study area is the library. One good pice of advice is that you should learn time management.

Printing is good. You can print as many times as you want. Network is reliable, and you can use the internet from any part of the campus. You can bring your own laptop, but there are computer labs in almost all the buildings.

The buildings are very old. The science facilities are old. The science building was built in 1965 and it has not been renovated since. The dorms are also quite old, and some of them are without air conditioning. The athletic center is decent, and the football stadium is good. The college green is pretty in spring but brown all other seasons.

Health & Safety:
Campus is generally safe. Try to lock your doors to avoid petty theft
College Sophomore 2013-05-15T21:27:12Z
There isn't really any transportation around campus. The buses are confusing and don't come around often, aren't convenient for the college student

Sioux Falls is a great city, a very homey feel. There are a lot of restaurants and shops at reasonable prices, and big name store right in the city. Only thing is nothing is within walking distance of the college, we are located in a residential area so not having a car has it's challenges.

The best money is offered for academics. Extracurricular activities offer some money but not as much as some private schools.

They are all very well trained and they love Augie and their students.
College Sophomore 2013-04-12T17:51:25Z
They are very good at giving you tickets for everything. Just don't get caught. But if you are ever have a friend in trouble and if you report them they wont get in trouble because they don't want to discourage helping other people out and keeping them safe.

The PA's on your floor in housing are very strict about alcohol on campus, which is a good thing so that not too many people party in the dorm. They still tend to do so, but in a less obvious manner.
College Sophomore 2013-04-09T21:12:29Z
The computers are very efficient, but sometimes they are a little too slow.
College Sophomore 2013-04-09T21:11:35Z
There is a lot of room to park in the parking lots that are for you dorm, but it is way too expensive for a parking sticker.
College Sophomore 2013-04-09T21:09:13Z
The food is really good, but the price is too expensive. The cost of food for a freshmen, I believe is too much.
College Sophomore 2013-03-31T04:31:24Z
While the food at Augustana is of very high quality, I wish that there were more dining options in different locations than just the Commons Building.

I am currently only a freshman in my second semester and through the campus ministry office and my academic advisor I have received an internship working at a church only a mile from campus. This opportunity is particularly unique because it is with high risk, low income, spanish speaking children aged 3-16. I feel very blessed to have been linked up with this opportunity and I receive about $9 an hour which is an added bonus. I have friends in all grades who have expressed great satisfaction with their internship opportunities as well.

plenty of places to eat near campus but probably best to use a car instead of walking due to traffic
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T05:20:29Z
If you don't have a computer at least one is publicly available in each building and and there are always computers available if a lab is not open tech services do a great job maintaining and making repairs
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T05:16:36Z
weather has no major effect on classes just makes it cold wet or slippery
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T05:13:51Z
I don't have an opinion about parking because I don't have a vehicle on campus
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T05:10:58Z
The policies are good and reasonable, but haven't seen the polices being reinforced.

Health & Safety:
Campus safety is strict when it comes to partying on the weekends and drinking in the dorms. They are not shy about giving out parking tickets or fines. They are always available to give students rides if they ever feel unsafe on campus but the campus is so small that this is rarely used. Campus Safety is available to help if you are having difficulties with your car such as locking your keys inside or having a flat tire.

Augustana does not contain fraternities or sororities, rather they have "theme houses". In order to live in a Theme House, groups of students pick a theme that will set the basis for volunteer work throughout the year. Also, it does not matter whether you are apart of the theme house or not, everyone is welcome at their gatherings and parties. The Augieholics are particularly noticed on campus for their school spirit and events such as tail gating before athletic events.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
