Most of the time, you can access the Austin College WiFi, but when it's down, it's down. It's weird that the place where I get the least WiFi is in the library. It annoys me to no end when that happens, but I would say that IT does a fairly good job at being prompt to address any issues.

The Greek system is thriving here, but it doesn't control everyone's lives. It's just like a large, selective club, but people are still friendly with non-Greek members, as well.

Facilities are great but old. Some areas are being remodeled, while newer buildings are under construction.

Health & Safety:
Campus Is Good – There really aren't any problems around campus, just some minor damage done by drunk college students, but that only happens on rare occasions.

Drug Usage -- Not Apparent / Alcohol Use -- Above Average – I haven't seen any drug usage, so I can't comment on that aspect of the question. I will, however, say that alcohol usage is above average (at least, in my opinion). That's probably because Sherman doesn't have much to offer in the way of alternate activities.

On-campus housing is hassle-free, whereas living off campus means that you have to deal with landlords and paying for utilities.

Professors Are Open and Easily Available. The professors are easily contacted and very willing to answer any questions. The class options are great, and the registration process works well.

Great School – It's small, and I like that. My largest class has either people. There's plenty of one-on-one time with professors if you want it.

Parking isn't that bad. We're expanding so it's not as good as it used to be. But it's still pretty good.

I Like Subway – We used to have a Quiznos, but it's gone now. Now I go to Subway.

It sucks a lot, but when it's nice outside, it is REALLY nice outside. But it rains too much.

There Aren't Any – I guess we have the Roo Route but no one uses it.

Not So Great – There are very limited healthy options, and the quality of food is at least sub-par. It is certainly not impressive and often pretty gross.

Beautiful Small Campus – The campus is overall beautiful, peaceful and relatively quiet. I love the environment and all of the trees and landscaping. Its nice to sit outside and enjoy the day while reading for class.

School Spirit Does It Exist? Though a lot of students and alumni go to the homecoming football game, there really aren't that many fans at every game, especially away games. Only friends of players on teams really go to home games.

No Real Clubs, Parties Are the Only Way to Go – There is only one bar that students 21 and up really go to. It's a lot more fun to go over to a friend's or a frat house and hang out and party than to go out. It's cheaper too to just all pitch in.

Not the Most Exciting of Atmospheres and Absolutely No Nightlife – Sherman is a small town with few attractions that would appeal to students. The main thing students can do for fun is go to parties. Local businesses are supportive of students if they are asked to participate in activities or fundraisers. Otherwise, the college and the community don't associate with each other very much.

Off Campus – There isn't really anything I've noticed that is super strict about our campus. In fact, I think they give the students that live off and on campus a good deal of freedom and treat them with great respect.

For a small town, there is a pretty fun nightlife.

An education at AC may be expensive, but who isn't on Financial Aid? 99% of the student body is offered financial aid. Some of our students manage to afford the education outright, but it's nearly impossible to distinguish who is or isn't receiving aid. I've only taken out one (small) loan to cover a very special off-campus JanTerm, but my financial aid covers the rest of tuition. (Note: I didn't fully cover residence halls/meal plan, so I'm living off campus)

As a commuting student, I almost never have trouble finding a parking space in the lot I frequent. The prime parking spots are usually taken by those who live on campus-and some cars are parked for a week at a time. Depending on the parking lot, it may take five minutes to walk to wherever you're going, but given the size of the campus, it isn't really an issue. All buildings are within walking distance, though some students prefer bikes to walking.

Helpful People – The workers are great working individually with students to help them get the best financial aid package available for them.

Guys & Girls:
It's a small school, but people from all over the world come here. There are all sorts of different cultures and interests represented here, so people look and act a lot differently depending on who you're around.

Hometown Feel – The town has enough restaurants and activities to keep things fairly interesting. It has a really good hometown feel and community that makes up for missing the glamorous side of a big town.

Greek life is a big deal on campus. Maybe a quarter of the student population is involved one way or another with Greek life.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
