There are a lot of rules at AC. Fliers must be approved and can only be posted in certain places. The opposite sex has to be out of your room by midnight on school nights. You can't swim in the fountains. And candles and microwaves are banned from dorm rooms. Some of these can seem ridiculous, and the people in charge have a way of taking certain policies a little too seriously. Students complain about visitation rules the most, saying they're too strict and unreasonable. RAs may be your friends during the day, but if they hear a member of the opposite sex in your room or catch you drunk in the bathroom at night, they will write you up for it. Don't be fooled—AC students are not angels. They break rules all the time. The key is to not be stupid, and if you do get caught, the administration has a knack for giving good warnings.
Campus police are much more lenient than the city police would be. Campus officers are there to protect you, not get you in trouble. If you're being a belligerent drunk around campus, they'll use harsh words, but as long as you keep a semi-straight stumble going on your trek back to your dorm, you should be all right. Getting around the rules at AC is all about recalling that innocent smile you learned as a kid and exploiting it until your face hurts.
