It's Texas—you can have four seasons in one day. If you grew up in Texas, you can understand this. Either way, will never get bored with the weather in Sherman. Unlike many parts of Texas, Sherman usually gets four seasons. The summers can be hot and humid like most of Texas, the winters are cold but relatively mild without much snow, and fall and spring have the nicest weather with sunny days and moderate temperatures. That being said, be prepared for the occasional need to bundle up for snow in March and to break out shorts in November. Mother Nature just likes to keep you on your toes.

It is windy here most of the year, particularly in the fall, so girls should be wary of this when wearing dresses and skirts. It rains consistently through the year, especially in October and April, making rain boots a socially acceptable and necessary fashion statement. If you are coming to live on campus, invest in a pair. It usually snows once a year, and when it happens, there's a campus-wide snowball fight and lots of sledding with cafeteria trays. It's best to dress in layers in the winter, as it can be freezing in the morning and 70 degrees by the afternoon. The weather is capricious.

The best time of year is the spring. Before the summer heat and humidity set in, there is more than a month of sunshine and perfect, breezy weather. This is when the campus erupts with people studying on the North Lawn and escaping to Lake Campus on the weekends. One thing to remember is that Sherman is on the edge of Tornado Alley, so definitely pay attention when the sirens go off, but it’s nothing to stress over. Every spring during finals week, there are big storms that will usually call a tornado warning. Beyond a few limbs littering the ground the next morning, there is never much damage.
