There are a variety of places to eat such as subway, chick-fil-a, papa johns, starbucks, blondies, etc. Prices are not as cheap as you might like a college student to be, but they do hold a vendor fair where you can get free food!

Use to It – If you live in TN you know that the weather changes every five minutes. It is hot in the summer time, but APSU has plenty of places to cool off (ex. library, MUC, bookstore, and dorm rooms). In the winter time it can get fairly cold, but once again there are place to go. The only thing about APSU's weather that is bad is the chance of flooding being that they are on a hill very close to the Cumberland river, and this poses problems for commuters. They are good however at letting you know when classes are cancelled.

Great Amenities Nearby – APSU is located in the heart of downtown Clarksville. It is only 10-15 minutes away from a mall, several shopping centers, and almost any restaurant you could want.

Health & Safety:
Being There at the Wrong Time – At Austin Peay State University, thefts and shootings are the most known crimes that occur on campus. However, as I have noticed in my past year of attending - It is more of "You were at the wrong place, at the wrong time". However, to prevent this from happening, Austin Peay is constantly sending out emails regarding crimes and violence that have taken place within campus property. If a student ever feels unsafe, such as being followed, etc., then Austin Peay as a simple solution for it: All throughout the campus are blue polls with a large red button. When pressed, it calls the campus police to the location that the student is at. To easily locate these at night, a bright red light flashes to indicate where they are.

Drugs Are Not an Issue – The drug issues that most Colleges find do not seem to appear over at Austin Peay State University. In the past year that I have attended this college, I have yet to see any drug addicts anywhere within Campus property. However, due to the fact that I do not stay within a dorm room, I cannot say whether or not students use drugs within them.

Over at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville Tennessee, the computers labs are generally crowded due to them being used as classrooms when they shouldn't be, as well as when it gets closer to finals and midterms. Not only that, but there have been times when the internet has been down campus-wide, and it has caused issues for most classes to be taught, as well as for students to finish up the work needed to pass those classes. With the computer labs being crowded, it is more reliable to have a personal laptop on hand when it is needed. However, when a student needs to print an essay, or any other type of assignment, then the only possible way would be for them to find an available computer lab somewhere on campus.

Academically Speaking – The faculty at APSU try to make sure you understand the concepts and are able to use that knowledge and apply it to other situations. Professors always are available to help and Student Services offers free tutoring in most subjects.

Great Night on the Town – I'd say that Clarksville has a lot to offer as far as nightlife. You have Blackhorse Pub and Brewery, the only place to get their amazing beer! You also have The Electric Cowboy that plays an awesomely diverse array of music with the cheapest drink prices, and biggest dance floor in the area by far!

Always Something to Do – After class there is always something to do. They usually show movies in the University Center with free food. The library is always good if you want peace and quite just go to the basement. The gym (the foy) is always doing activities that are fun to join! Also organizations are always doing something in the plaza around noon.

So Strict! Drinking and drug use is frowned upon and you will get busted! First time offenders usually get suspended but if a repeat offender you will be expelled. The campus police usually know where the hangouts are. So don't even try it.

Not Many – There are about two or three clubs in Clarksville. They usually allow 18 and up but the house parties are better and free. The frat parties are the best.

Not Always Available – The computers aren't always available during the times that you need it. Just don't wait till the last minute and you'll be okay.

So far, since I am a transfer student, all I have found that I did not like at Austin Peay is that it is so hot during the summer and fall.

The parking on campus has actually gotten worse over the years. We have had an increase in the number of students attending, which could be the result. Several tickets and verbal warnings are given to students because of parking difficulties. Parking lots are seperated by colors and students are required to get certain colors of permit passes for parking privileges, which sometimes conflicts with being on time to class and parking tickets and violations.

Spirit Squads and MUC – Spirit Squads are very active on and off campus. I was actually apart of a spirit squad (Pom/Dance Team/Squad) for the years 2009-2012. Spirit Squads are available during the summers for events such as high school dance programs, promotions, special events and football games. They cheer/dance at all of the home football and basketball games and have a high energy and passion for entertainment. They constantly interact with the audience at games and are often relied on for pep.
The MUC is a great lounge area for students in between and after classes. There are bullentin boards full of information and events as well as a cafeteria and dining area for students to eat at. There are several flat-screen televisions and couches for the benefinaries of Austin Peay's students.

Upper & Lower Classman Dorms – Austin Peay has recently built new freshmen dorms for the incoming freshmen the past 2011-2012 school year. The building was very efficient for students and brand new equipped with elevators and study rooms. The upperclassmen dorms are not minimized to only a few , which made it very difficult to find housing, due to the incoming number of freshmen every year. Most dorms were being rebuilt which created tension and difficulty for other students to find and pertain spots in certain dormatories.

Free Buses! The school gives you bus cards for free transportation around the city. There are different modes of transportation but the bus is definitely the best for those without cars - there is plenty of parking but everything is spread out in Clarksville!

Rude and Unhelpful – At 17 the head of financial aid told me to get pregnant or married was the only way to afford to go to college. They misplaced my paperwork 4 times and were very unhelpful while trying to deal with different processes. They gave us incorrect information costing us several thousand dollars and were unwilling to correct their mistakes.
College Junior 2012-07-27T20:53:42Z
Transportation Dependent – There are tons of restaurants around Clarksville - except they are difficult to get to without reliable transportation (car, bus). However, there are some within walking distance if you really want some fast food.

It Hasn't Been a Hassle – The financial aid office is very helpful. I've never experienced any issues and I always received my financial aid in a decent time.

Sports Are Not Overlooked – The sports department at APSU aren't the main focus, but they are a big part of campus life. Football games are always packed and basketball.
College Junior 2012-07-27T15:32:50Z
Do Not Commute – The parking is horrible. If you have to come on campus any later than 8am, good luck on finding one.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
