Small Campus, Offers Various Activities – Financial Aid is awful to deal with and make it ten times harder on the student. However, for the most part, the faculty and staff do try to work with students and are overall friendly. The school itself does try to get various famous persons to come to APSU and speak and tries to have different free activites for students to attend such as a movie on the lawn or something like that. Not to mention, the free shirts!

Let It Rain! Tennessee is a nice area to live in but at peak times, the weather isn't as friendly. During the middle of summer, it can make walking to and from campus buildings miserable due to the heat. During the end of fall semester, we have a lot of problems with black ice on the roads. During the spring semester, there is quite a bit of flooding and thunderstorms with tornado warnings that can potentially cause classes to be cancelled. All in all, the school has only cancelled maybe 3 times in the year and a half I've been coming to APSU. I like the fact that it is not only reliable, but realizes that at particular times the safety of students is more important than their everyday attendance in the classroom.

Unless you are a parks and recreation enthusiast, you may not enjoy the surrounding city of Clarksville, TN. I love the simplicity and quietness of the overall community, but some would find the fact that there isn't a very large mall here quite disappointing. There are also few chains here and not enough mom/pop restaurants to hang out. However, there is still something new to do if you have your eyes open and your mind open to the outdoors.

Mud Bowl – Once a year, all the sororities, fraternities, academic clubs, and student community groups make teams and compete in a mud bowl fest! It's so much fun and a whole lot of mud involved!

Always Green – Austin Peay has a lot of wonderful features going for it, but my absolute favorite is the fact that the majority of the campus is very green. There is a green house, lots of greenery around the buildings and crossing from one building to the next. It's amazing how many trees are still on campus even though the campus itself is surrounded by a small concrete blocked city. Austin Peay makes you like studying outside because the surroundings make you feel refreshed and ready to go for that next exam.

Ft. Campbell APSU – I attended Austin Peay on a military base so it was fairly strict, but it wasn't too strict make the atmosphere not enjoyable.

Lots of Variety – The dining hall provides a lot of variety and most of the things I have sampled have been delicious. We also have a wide variety of fast food restaurants available both in the student center and sprinkled around campus for quick meals and snacks.

Great Experience for a Non-Traditional Student – 40% of our enrollment is a non-traditional population from military members to single parents. I've returned after a 33 year break and while the experience was a bit daunting at first, it has become the most rewarding thing I have ever done for myself. I have become acquainted with an amazing group of professors that are encouraging and supportive. I have a cohort of students that accept me despite our age differences and participated in study groups that have been very beneficial for all involved.

Good Computer Availability – Computers are available in all the labs as well as the library including laptop check outs.

Outdoor Fun – We are a small but growing diverse military town. There are numerous lakes, camping grounds, nature parks, caves, fishing spots, and we even have a river walk! We have 5 walmart, a mall, about 3 movie theaters, two bowling alleys, and more! The fun is endless, you just have to open your eyes and get out!

the library just got a wonderful remodel done, there are campus activities happening every day, plenty of sports, in fact our women's basketball team is well known. The school actively encourages us to use these facilities and to participate in the school events. There are "Hang out" spots located all around the campus. The athletic center is absolutely amazing even though it could use some better work out equipment. We have a pool, rock climbing, fitness center, a track, and plenty of fitness programs that are all free or very low cost to the student and their families. We have an art gallery and plenty of computer labs where you can study and do your homework.

The off-campus dining options aren't the best but the school makes up for it by giving you plenty of choices on campus. We have starbucks, subway, and chik-fil-a. That doesn't include all of the school dining facilities we have such as the cafeteria and the food courts.

Health & Safety:
Cops and Lights – There are campus and city police EVERYWHERE. There are also blue lights to call for assistance all over campus.

Campus Staff Are Helpful – Every staff member I have dealt with on campus has been extremely gracious and helpful. You can tell they sincerely want the students to succeed.

What? We Have a Team? There is an athletic program at APSU? What? I went to a basketball game ONCE. The gym is tiny, overcrowded.

Wouldn't Know – Not much housing near campus. No one offers to help with housing unless you ask. I don't plan to live on or near campus anyway, since I'm a nontraditional student.

Not Much Within Walking Distance – There isn't much very near campus. You need a car to go grocery shopping. Campus is in a hilly area, which could make it hard to get around. Parking is iffy.

It's Alright – There are a couple of clubs nearby, but they are mostly for students who are 21 years or older. However, there is a decent selection of night activities to do on campus. There are sometimes parties or concerts to go to. And, there is a pool near the UC that sometimes hold some rocking activities.

Pretty Good – Right behind campus is a good assortment of different fast food and sit down restaurant. There is, of course, McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Captain D's right by the campus. But, there is also Shoney's and Waffle House right behind the dorms. Away from campus and towards the mall is where you can find the majority of restaurants and a wide variety of eateries. You can find anything from fast food such as McD's, Taco Bell, Krystals, Sonic, DQ, Arby's, Wendy's, etc. As for restaurants, there is always Steak N Shake, Waffle House, Logan's, Golden Coral, and I've had a good time at all of them.

It's Pretty Decent – Just recently Austin Peay had substituted an on campus restaurant for a Subway and a Starbucks in the library. It is nice to have these on campus now, but I would have rather they kept the restaurant as well. They have a fair sized food court and a good cafeteria that's like a buffet. They're coffee shop Einstein's is my favorite place, though. Austin Peay does get a couple extra points just because they have separate little shops in different buildings like the science building so that you can get a little snack before class even if you're in a hurry.

Guys & Girls:
The Guys Are Nice – There are generally a lot of good looking guys on campus, but you will hardly find any guy who is not nice and polite. Some of the women on campus, unfortunately, are not so nice. However, the men are always nice and great to have a conversation with if you're in a long line.

I love the facilities on the campus. Every building accommodates everyone, & elevators in every one them, also. They're also clean, the janitors are awesome & always make sure it's clean.

During Noon. The times of 10am & 3pm the campus parking sucks. It's manageable on some days, but very few. So come early, or you'll get a ticket for parking in the wrong space.
College Senior 2012-05-25T21:46:37Z
Get There Early! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you get to campus any later than 8:30... good luck with parking.

If You Want Cheap, Come to Austin Peay! I honestly really love this school. I love how small the school is, it makes getting around much easier. Austin Peay is located in downtown Clarksville so everything is near-by, for social actvities.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
