Athletic events are attended but not really a big part of this school. AP supports those involved in sports though. Supplies and up-to-date equiptment.

The campus is secure and officiers are always walking around but students have freedom to have fun. There is absolutely no drinking or smoking on campus. This policy is strictly inforced. Academically, AP is the best. It has great professors that genuinely care about their students. Free tutoring classes are offered and one on one tutoring is available as well.

The dorms at APSU are taken care of very well. The older dorms don't have elevators, but the walk up the stairs isn't bad at all. The newer dorms are fantastic. Old dorms, like Sevier and Blount, have the traditional style of living with a suite mate. The new dorms, like Castle Heights, North, and South buildings, only share a bathroom with your roommate. Most of the problems that come in the dorms are because of the students inability to clean up after themselves. The kitchen and study rooms can sometimes get pretty disgusting, but the cleaning crew comes in every week and fixes things up pretty quickly. The cost of the dorm is worth it for everywhere except Hand Village. Hand does not offer wifi and is very far away from the rest of campus. Castle Heights is also very far from the rest of campus and can sometimes be a taunting walk. Sevier, Blount, and Harvill are right in the middle of campus, but are older buildings. The North, South, and West buildings are opening in the fall and promise to make the best of both worlds, proximity to campus with the amenities of being a brand new dorm. Dealing with the housing department can sometimes be pretty awful. Dr. Obi is probably one of the worst faculty members I have ever met. She has no concern for the well-being of the students and appears to only care about her pay check. She doesn't have time for anything and doesn't put any effort into her work. She loves to play favorites with students. You can also barely understand a word she says. Avoid dealing with her as much as possible and you're good to go.

Parking at APSU is honestly pretty terrible right now. Living on campus is a lot easier, as there are colored areas designated for each dorm. Commuting is awful at the moment. If you want to get to class on time while commuting, you are going to have to learn to walk. The large parking lots that offer space are all on the outskirts of campus. Most people complain a lot more than necessary, as it is not that hard to walk a few minutes, but it can be a little inconvenient if you schedule your classes too close together. The school has plans to expand some of the parking lots and add new parking, so the problem should not be as bad in the upcoming year.

The athletics at APSU are superb. The varsity sports are very well supported and there are hundreds of intramural sports in which to participate. The basketball teams are absolutely fantastic, male and female. Everyone attends games and cheers on the team for their effort. Despite the football team being mediocre at best, the school is still just as supportive of them as they are the basketball teams. Tennis and soccer games receive just as much support as other sports, which is rare in most schools. Joining an intramural sport is very recommended and respected. There are advertisements and programs everywhere for any intramural sport you could possibly be interested in. From intramural tennis to hackysack, there is something for everyone. Participating in the intramural versions of the varsity sports also gives you a lot of training, so that you might try out for the competitive version in the next season. The Foy Fitness center sponsors everything. They do all the can do get students involved and active. Regularly, the Foy offers beginner programs and incentives to participate. Overall, APSU athletics are absolutely wonderful!

Our Nursing Program is talked about quite favorably in the community as one of the best. It is quite competitive as well. This fall we will have roughly 300 applicants to the program with only 50 slots to fill. A students GPA is the first thing that the committee will look at when choosing who is to be admitted. The curriculum thus far has been very challenging too. When classes first began, Anatomy & Physiology was my most challenging subject, as classes progressed, Microbiology became the most challenging. I look forward to meeting the challenges of future classes.

I don't eat a whole lot on campus but if I do I mostly eat in the morning or lunch. I like my choices I have on campus but sometimes I feel like its the same kind of stuff. Also if you don't have a meal plan the prices are a little high

Always make sure to check the weather. The Austin Peay website informs students of the weather with a three day advance.

The Peay shuttle is available and if it is dark outside and late if you ask for the campus police they will give you a ride to your vehicle.

Health & Safety:
I have felt very safe on campus. It is open to the public and allows others to venture the campus but police are always around to make sure it is safe. The food court is most always clean.

It seems to always be raining here. Walking from class to class in rain coming down so hard you can't see 5 feet in front of you can be annoying.
College Sophomore 2013-04-09T04:19:38Z
There are a lot of things to do such as the park down by the river and the mall downtown. Other than that though everyone leaves on the weekends so it's pretty dead.

They are really strict on the midnight curfew. If the opposite sex is in room at 12:01 then you get wrote up.

I'm enrolled at Austin Peay State University for Biology/Pre-med. I enjoy APSU as a college for academics and student life. But Biology/Pre-med is a hard major because there is a lot of information to learn. All of my professors are extremely qualified and work in the fields they teach. I've had a few professors who are really tough but they do it to help you for medical school. All professors are extremely understanding when it comes to life interfering with school. They've worked with me throughout the course and did one on one instructions. There are plenty of opportunity for internships with research studies and the local hospital and doctor offices. They are also great for recommendations for grad school if you really take the time to build a relationship with them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
