Averett offers many undergrad courses. I went to their open house at the Roanoke Higher Ed and spoke with their representative who was very helpful. She has been staying in touch with me and providing me with lots of information. She has been easy to get a hold of and answers all my questions in a timely manner. I don't start my curriculum until Oct 28 so I can't answer yet about how the workload is.

I am obtaining my Bachelor in Business Administration through Averett's accelerated learning program. I like that they offer either a class or online course. You just take one class at a time and you only meet once a week. This is great for a full time working mother of two kids.

I am taking accelerated learning classes at the Roanoke Higher Ed. I am not at the Averett Campus.

We are supposed to have "quiet hours" at Averett, starting at 10PM on weekdays and 12AM on weekends. That doesn't happen here. On my hall (a girls hall), especially on the weekends, there are usually at least 20 people (mostly men) in the hallway. Music is blaring, people are running up and down the hall banging on doors and screaming, and most of the time these people are drunk. All of this happens during "quiet hours" which is for students like me that uses this time to sleep, do homework, or study.

As a past vegetarian, I have to say that the dining hall is a bit disappointing. The "vegetarian" section is usually just vegetables or some sort of veggie stir fry with meat. They rarely have tofu, and when they do you can tell that they do not know how to cook it. I understand that I am in a southern university, but vegetarians need plenty of protein. I have to have 55 grams and I haven't been getting it here. I ended up getting really sick and had to go to the hospital; it turned out it was because I wasn't getting enough protein and I had to go back to being a pescatarian.

The classes I have taken so far are excellent and the teachers are very understanding and easy to get along with. I like that they treat you like adults and actual college students. And while I may not like them when I'm studying, the tests are worthy of COLLEGE students.

I have never had an internship, but I have had a couple of volunteer jobs and they have went great. I applied for an intership over the summer, but I didn't give all the necessary needs to qualify for the hiring. I believe I will be able to find one or at least get that one next time.

With myself being at Averett University, my school is in a small but needed city with possible chances for jobs in my career field of Business. I have not really gotten deeply into my classes yet, but my Gen Eds went great and my first couple of major classes were okay.

Health & Safety:
I have never truly felt unsafe on the college campus, becuase of the quick response of the campus and town police. We have had our share of troubles, just like every college does, but they have not been entirely to bad. Overall to be careful, just be smart, don't leave your doors unlocked, or open for long period of times.

As a student that is trying to pursue, a double major with Business Accounting and Management, I know what I am in for. I am happy with the decision I have made to this point of my studies. I can truly say that the classes are challanging enough to the point where I am learning some valuable facts about what is ahead for me. I am not the best when it comes to economics, so that would be the only reason why I would not do it all over again, but overall I am satisfied. A career goal of mine is to hopefully come up with an original idea of my own to pitch to someone that could sell. Then I could run my own business, but if not that lucky I would like to be an Executive Director at a bank.

They were well-spaced and they varied, but the walls are too thin.

I like the small class size, it allowed the teacher to pay more attention to you.

Computer lab is small, network reliability and speed are slow, wireless access is difficult.

There's not a lot of parking on campus, but I seem to find a spot when I need to.

I received financial aid but not as much as I thought I would.

I had no idea that we even had this program. It is not very well known around campus. I have never heard anybody speak of it.

Health & Safety:
I became sick five times my freshman year at Averett. I do not know why I became sick, although I would have to blame it in the disgusting bathrooms, due to the football players.
College Sophomore 2013-06-22T23:42:34Z
The class sizes are amazing it is a ratio of 20 students in a class. This gives us more interaction with each other and individual attention with the teacher.
College Sophomore 2013-06-22T23:36:55Z
It rains so much and very often at Averett University, especially in the winter.
College Sophomore 2013-06-22T23:35:07Z
The dorm bathroom are cleaned daily but not on the weekends and the football players disrespect everything in the bathrooms, they flood toilets and break te dry wall by putting holes into them. But other than that te staff does well extremely well to keep the campus clean. So stag gets an A but the football players destroy it all so it takes it to a C.

School is located in a good area one can walk to most places

Parking your first car at Averett is free, if you have more than one car on campus the university only charges you $2 for another permit. You do know really need a car, they provide shuttles to take people to off campus classes and you can schedule rides to airports when it is time to get home for breaks. There is usually always a place to park near your room or classes.

The network is reliable and if there is a problem such as a virus the IT department will fix it quickly and send out emails to let everyone know about the virus and that they have or are trying to fix it. There are several computer labs in fact the library has two labs inside of it and the Success Center has about three. There is also a Mac lab and another lab in the the building that contains the Cafeteria. All of these labs are well stocked and have printers in most of them. Having your own computer is nice for either your own personal benefit and for not having to rely on when the labs are open.

Averett is mostly an Equestrian and Aviation driven place. What is really cool about Averett is that if you do not fall into those two catagories it is okay because the professors are amazing and you can fit in no matter what. Plus in the Equestrian program they have Novice riding classes you can take so even if that is not your field of interest you can give it a try. The facilities are in great condition and they have the best equipment for your field of study.
College Sophomore 2013-05-06T16:24:52Z
Averett University was by the far the prettiest and cleanest campus I had ever visited when I was college hunting. Everything is close by and the facilities are in top notch condition. When you arrive you think to yourself "Wow I could really call this place a second home". There are plenty of clubs and groups to join and Averett does a good job of introducing the incoming freshmen to these clubs and groups through a club fair they host at the beginning of every semester. There are beautiful green areas for students to lay out on the lawn and the groundskeepers do an amazing job of making the campus look incredible to not just the incoming students but to the students already there. There are plenty of places for students to hang out such as the front porch tot he Main building of the school.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
