Danville, VA – Danville is a small city but it's able to offer lot to students and residents of the city. On the weekends it's nice to go to the movies, a skating rink, shopping, or go out of town to explore other cities. It is mostly known for the City of Churches which there is a church on every other corner. If you get the chance to come stop by Dan Daniel Park to walk along the trail and even try Bubba's that has the best ice cream in town.

There is not much of a nightlife for Averett students. As I have mentioned, the city is small and boring. It is not much to do but go to a movie and out to dinner. We have all night bus reserved bus transportation for anyone who does not have transportation.

Averett has two location for their athletic department. The North Campus is not only used for these events but also Danville City events. The community has supported Averett all sporting events. The university has the best sporting equipment in the state.

The environment at Averett is very postive. It is located in a small family community. The cost of living is very reasonable and the community is quite safe. We have several attractive parks. We enjoy a festival in the park every year, along with several other park events.

Better Off in a Tent – You have to have a lot of money to stay in a nice place on campus. I did not. I lived in Bishop Dorm. It sucked

The food seems like it has been sitting out for a long time. They should use the cafeteria money for juts cafe.

Averett University is big on supplying excellent facilities to students. There's a fitness center that offers what most gyms do and a student success center to help student with their school work. Also, CAB (the student activity board) keeps student busy with multiple activities. Averett is known for Jut's Cafe, where students can eat a excellent meal or enjoy a cup of coffee. The library offers multiple study rooms and a computer lab for students. It also has reference librarians to help student with research papers and other homework. Tutors are made available to students through the success center.

Great Availability, Terrible Wireless – At Averett University the students have access to multiple computer labs and printers. There's never a problem of availability since there are so many computer labs on campus. Printing is available, but only in black and white. Wireless internet access for personal computers is terrible. The system is down most of the time and it's almost impossible to connect to the internet in dorm rooms.

Don't get the full meal plan. Allow for some flexiabilty and variation. If you don't feel like a meal at the cafe then there are plenty of restaurants outside of campus.

Health & Safety:
Safety is guaranteed , 24/7 security force. Guards are social and will help out anytime. Reminder though constant vigilance on locked doors. As always there are petty thiefs. Don't give them the opportunity.

A Nice Environment to Be in – I like the community because their are a number of nice people to help you on campus

Not Enough of Variety – Most of the places are just fast food restaurants as in McDonalds and others

You have to drive at least 35-45 mins. away from campus and on campus the nightlife is dead. We have a couple of clubs for eighteen and older clubs, but most are twenty one and up clubs!

Sports Are Average – Varsity sports at Averett University are pretty big. We have a good athletic training program, our fans are amazing, and the academic advisers are excellent.

Averett began my freshman year with several scholarships which helped cover most of my tuition. Good grades and academic qualifications are major factors to Averett and they like to acknowledge a students efforts. I realized more in the second year that not as much help was given. More loans were taken out in my sophomore year then in my freshman year because Averett did not support me as much.

The diversity on Averett's campus is very large. Having international students from several foreign countries and ethnicity ranging from blacks to whites to Puerto Ricans and Indians, Averett is the most diverse school in the area. From an inside look, I see that everyone basically gets along with each other. No one is treated differently because of their ethnicity or background.

Dining Options Off-Campus – Off-campus dining options near Averett University varies in quality, location, and pricing. Within walking distance, there about six or seven dining options. Not always the healthiest choices, these restaurants provide a variety of food types, but in all honesty, a vegetarian or an individual looking for foods with low fat and low sodium would be very displeased. Farther out from Averett, there are several restaurants that are high in quality but pricing may be a bit strenuous. From my knowledge, there is only one restaurants in the area that gives a student discount, but it is on one night of the week.
Food around here, in my opinion, is pretty tasteful, but being from the city of Danville, VA, i have not really been else where. Restaurants such as Miyako's and Olive Garden are higher staged restaurants that serve dishes found in foreign countries, but they are far too expensive for any individual, much less a college student, to be able to enjoy several times out of a month. Convenience is also a factor. It is not always easy to go to a restaurant and sit down and enjoy your mean as a college student because all of the tasks demanded of u.

Pleasing to the Eye – Overall, the facilities are pretty good. Our student center is new, as is our book store and athletic facilities. They are not top notch or anything, but compared to the older parts of school, they are the best. Thanks to our new President, the campus itself is getting cleaned up and improved on looks.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
