Southern California, need I say more?

APU offers a trolley system to get students from campus to campus as well as a shuttle system available through the night that I mentioned in the Health and Safety section. APU also has a system to pick students up from the airport that need a ride back to school.

APU students desiring to park on-campus are required to buy a parking pass for the year which covers them in their living area as well as APU lots not reserved for faculty. APU's west campus lot is so large that a spot is always available. The living area parking is sometimes hit or miss but APU is very accommodating

APU does a great job of keeping drugs off of the campus. Campus Safety deserves much of the credit for that. But, APU students are a large part of that as well. The vast majority of APU students are driven and focused individuals that do not find interest in drug use.

APU does not offer Greek Life. Although, it does offer many types of themed housing and clubs that allow students to connect in a meaningful way.
College Senior 2013-01-11T22:22:28Z
APU definitely has a lot to offer as far as late-night activities. With LA around the corner students can go to events in Hollywood, Santa Monica, and many other places. However, the school prides itself on being an exciting yet safe enviroment for students that does not allow on-campus parties.

APU is a NCAA Division 2 school with 19 Varsity Sports, and was the NAIA Director's Cup Winner from 2005-2012. Additionally, it is the only Christian school with a Football team in Southern California, as well as the only Division 2 Football team in Southern California.

Guys & Girls:
APU students are passionate, determined, and possess a zest for life not seen in many other campus communities. This has resulted in mission teams going to 20 different countries per year, 125,000 hours of service in 2012, and and an impact on the world unmatched by other Universities.

Students prefering to live off-campus can choose from a few great and inexpensive apartment complexes as well as affordable housing in the surrounding areas.
College Senior 2013-01-11T21:54:43Z
APU has great housing for students ranging from Freshmen to Super Seniors. One advantage is that housing becomes more independent each year. For example, as a Freshman you have no kitchen, a group bathroom (besides the suites in Engstrom) etc. As a Sophomore you have a living room, bigger kitchen, and a student's independence slowly grows into apartment syle living. Additionally, most students live on-campus all 4 years which makes the community great and lessens the stress of having to find off-campus housing.

As mentioned in Local Atmosphere, APU has more than enough off-campus eateries in the area surrounding it. They include Applebee's, Chipotle, an Italian Restaurant called Dalia's, Subway, Pizza Hut, Wing City, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, KFC, Alberto's, Marie Calendars, Falafel Me, Juan Pollo, Little Caesars, Taco King, Max's Mexican Restaurant, a few Chinese eateries, Tutti Frutti, Pinkberry, and Yogurtland, all within a quarter mile of the school. Additionally, a Chick-Fil-A and Habit are going in across the street and are scheduled to open Spring 2013.

There is a wide range of eateries on APU's campus. They include every type of food a student would want to eat. Although APU does not have outside vendors on-campus that students can charge meals with, they have options for Mexican food, sushi, barbecue, sandwiches, and a buffet style cafeteria for students.
College Senior 2013-01-11T20:20:45Z
APU has facilities available for many different activities and interests. This includes an on-campus gym that is free for students. One minor disadvantage is that it is sometimes closed for athletic programs' use.
College Senior 2013-01-11T20:19:12Z
Computers are available for student use in all libraries as well as a few other student unions and labs. All have up-to-date software and great internet access.

Health & Safety:
APU has a great on-campus Health Center and a Campus Safety staff committed to the well-being of APU students. Some standout examples of this are the prepackaged kits for colds (including tissues, ibuprofen, etc.) and other ailments that students can pick-up for free, and APU's shuttle service that will pick up a student anywhere on-campus almost anytime of night to get them hope safely.

Not 100% sure how the Campus Strictness rating works, but I would say APU's campus is a bit more strict than other campuses. For example, when I first heard APU had visitation hours I was a little bummed. To be honest, I thought the rigidness of a Christian school would lessen the college experience. After choosing APU I realized I couldn't have been more wrong. Visitation hours were not an issue at all. If I was hanging out with friends late we would just go to the lobby of the dorm we were in where we could stay 24 hours a day (which we sometimes would haha). Additionally, the hours are not really strict at all. If anything, it keeps students accountable and sometimes I even enjoyed visitation hours because it would give us the opportunity to go out for a late night food run. In total, APU holds their students to high standards so we can be be successful, but not even remotely in a way that is burdensome or annoying.

The area around APU certainly has the feel of a college town. Within a football field's distance of the school are Chipotle, Ross, The Habit, Applebees, Fresh and Easy, Stater Bros, Marie Calendars, two barber shops, a movie theatre, 3 frozen yogurt shops, a 'Dollar Store', a great gym with rates as low as $9 a month, 4 fast foot restaurants, a few banks, the San Gabriel Mountain Range with multiple hiking trails, waterfalls, and much more. And this isn't including things on-campus such as the sports fields and courts, and new sand volleyball court. The area around the school is very friendly as well, Glendora has a very home-grown downtown area with shops and stores. The Azusa area has some rougher neighborhoods, but I have never heard of anyone having an issue. Within a few miles of the school are two Targets, Ikea, BJ's, Chili's, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and numerous other retail stores and restaurants. The area is a great small-town feel where students can feel safe and at home while also having enough going on to be very exciting and engaging. And don't forget that LA, Hollywood, the beach, and Ski Resorts are all about 30-45 min away.

APU has extremely hig- quality programs in a variety of different areas of study. Professors challenge students to not only improve academically, but as Christians committed to using their abilities in a positive, impactful way. Additionally, as there is no section for professors, the APU faculty deserves to be mentioned here. They are a world-class group of educators that care about their students in a wholistic sense. They hold academics very highly, but are interested in their students as people first and foremost.. This includes things like reaching out to students personally who are having trouble, hosting study sessions at their homes, giving students their cell phone numbers to call if they ever need anything, and so much more. The APU Professors' dedication and love toward field of study as well as their students is something truly inspiring that makes APU students feel motivated, supported, and encouraged.

The transportation options on campus are amazing. The cost is a little expensive but you can always find a parking spot and there bus stops close by.

The parking permit is expensive but there is always parking available. And the troll on campus is awesome.

There are lost of different choices available to match just about anything someone is looking for. However the Shire is not a great place to live, with the walls being thing and the rooms small.

The area around Azusa Pacific University is very much a college town. There are shopping centers and movie theaters across the street and several Starbucks within a mile of the school.

Usually open spots on both campuses. Occasionally parking lots are closed for special events or construction.

I think there is something for everyone to do there. One of the programs I really like is the Center for Student Action.I got involved with one of their programs called Mexico Outreach and it is amazing! I went on a mission trip to Mexico during thanksgiving.Azusa Pacific is a great school if you're interested in doing mission work pretty much anywhere you want.
