The campus is majority Hispanic. As a result at times it feels like there is no common community. There is more identity for differences than similarities.

It's Average – would like to see the school reach out to more diversity.

Get a Gym Membership – The gym on campus is not very high quality at all. If you are serious about working out, it may be beneficial to get a gym membership. There are many local ones close by. Otherwise, for simple working out, although it's not pretty, the gym on campus will work just fine. The Felix Event Center, where all athletic games take place, is beautiful and state of the art. There is never a lack of seating. The libraries have different hours, but during high stress seasons (finals) they extend hours to accommodate. But even after the actual library on east campus closes, the outer area just before you exit the building stays open all night.

Quality Professors – Because APU is small, there is a ton of one on one interactions with professors. They get to know each person's name, and many professors even invite students over to their houses for dinner. It is a beautiful thing to be so close and learn so much with professors. Also, the individuals working here love their jobs and that shows through the classes. I am a psychology major and if I could do it again I would. The psychology department is relatively strong, we have a phenomenal nursing program, and a relatively strong business program and social work program. Because my major is psychology, I anticipate going to graduate school, however I have already found a job in the mean time.

Azusa Is Quiet, but LA Is Close! Azusa does not have very many attractions, the main ones consist of food options, hiking, pretty parks, and shopping. However, the great thing about APU's atmosphere is how central it is. It is 45 minutes from Huntington Beach and Newport Beach and from downtown LA (which never lacks entertainment). It is easy to get places and outside of Azusa there is ALWAYS something to do.

We Do Not Have Greek – We don not have greek life at APU, however the school does offer many other types of option for fellowship with individuals who have common interests. We have the Alpha program for incoming freshman. They are assigned to small groups of 8-15 and have a leader who is typically a sophomore or junior. This group helps ease the freshmen students into college life and is there for support. We also have countless activities in living areas to make up for the lack of the greek system.

Good, but Not Great – The places around campus have been greatly diversified from past years, but compared to public schools, we have very little to choose from. For how much we pay for tuition, the quality of food is extremely poor. There are always healthy options that can be found, but again for the tuition we pay, students should really receive better tasting food, better quality food, and more options. The cafeteria has immensely improved in the past few years, but it still has a long way to go.

Dry Campus – There is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to drugs, especially drinking.

Great Instructors – As I finish up my first year, I am extremely satisfied with the progression of my program. Some of the professors have years of experience in a wide range of position relating to my major. Clinical training is robust.
College Sophomore 2012-05-10T18:54:45Z
The application process is fairly standard for the major. The turn-around time to hear back is amazing.

Happy With My Choice – I am extremely happy with my choice and the strengths of the program. The emphasis on family psychology is critical, especially in our field. Communication from faculty with students could improve.

Clinical Psychoogy Intern – No concerns about finding an internship when I apply for them in a year.

Health & Safety:
I have always felt very safe on the campus, even at night when walking to my car alone.

APU offers a trolly service back and forth between the two main campuses, which is a nice option.

sports are a very big deal and are greatly supported by everyone. Azusa recently got into the NCAA and has been doing very well with all its teams.

psychology majors get to really interact with not only their proffesors but with other students in the program and the entire school in general. the program does help you be more hands on and they te students about any job or internship opportinities that are available
College Sophomore 2012-05-10T01:25:49Z
it tends to be expensive for students and more of a hassle because of more trouble with things such as parking and trying to get from one place to another

Great Libraries – The libraries on campus are great. So many areas to study between the 2 campuses.

Not So Sure – I am a freshman right now and planning on living on campus next year, but have heard a lot of good stuff from people who live off campus. I just have never personally experienced. It seems easily available and fairly cheap cost, just with the downside of having to purchase off campus housing all year long.

The community at APU is amazing and I love how easy it is to get involved. Plus the beach is only an hour away!

Fresh Food – Heritage court food is not all that bad, it is always fresh. I suggest to buy from university dining.
