I am currently enrolled in the Nursing Program. Though this program is difficult to get in to, the professors and other directors of the school are very helpful and will do anything to see you succeed. However, it is a difficult program as you must maintain a certain GPA. The Professors of course expect a lot, so time management is something that must be learned quickly! The class sizes are small which allows unique and critical time with your Professors.

Transportation between the two campuses is extremely reliable. There are multiple trolleys running between the two sites, which never make you wait longer than 7 minutes during the day and around 15 minutes at night. However, if you are running late you can always walk between campuses as it is only a half mile distance. For those that live off campus or have their vehicles on the West Campus lot, there is the Campus Safety shuttle which is extremely reliable as well. You call them and they can be there to give you a lift in a matter of minutes. For transportation around the city, the public buses are very accessible.

There is no Greek life at APU. We do not have sororities or fraternities. There are a couple organizations that are sorority/fraternity like but they are for certain majors, like nursing. This probably has to do with APU's moral system and discouraging of excessive drinking or promiscuity, which are sometimes associated with Greek life in the media. This does not mean that student life is less active or resident community non-existent. Residence life is strong because of the bond formed between fellow residents, room-mates, and RA's. There is one all-boy dorm (Smith) and one all-girl dorm (Adams) that are akin to sororities and fraternities without the partying shown in movies. The two other freshman dorms (Engstrom and Trinity) are co-ed but only as a whole because each floor is gender-specific. There are no co-ed halls at APU. Dorms are only for freshman and then you move on to apartments/mini houses called the Shire mods when you are an upper-classman.

School trolleys run throughout the day, but some are hard to catch on time to make it to class. This is free, but costs to park personal cars are extremely high.

On campus living is pretty awesome, you grow closer with your community and you are apart of the school because the social atmosphere that opens up when that happens is so incredible. I've made long lasting friends here and on-campus housing really makes that easier!

Go to Sam's Subs! It's the best. Mexicali is pretty good too. The dining hall can be hit or miss but its a lot of fun to go with a big group and you can always come up with something creative there! They just opened a Chick-Fil-A across the street that you can use your Cougar Bucks for, you should check it out!

Health & Safety:
I feel really safe and comfortable with my community of students, but the off campus activity is where most of my concern lies.
College Senior 2013-07-13T00:30:28Z
I got right in and I haven't really encountered any problems.

Night life at APU is not determined by the bar/club scene. We are a dry campus and a Christian school. We have fun without all that stuff, and its even better!
College Senior 2013-07-13T00:27:26Z
I don't have a car, but a lot of people get ticketed if they don't have a permit, so get a permit or walk! They have free trolleys all day from each campus, you don't need a car! Ride a bike!
College Senior 2013-07-13T00:26:03Z
If you know how to find it, you will get a lot! I'm still trying to figure out how people do it!

I hope to get an internship next semester to hopefully figure out what I want to do in the future.

The dorms themselves aren't impressive at all but the community is what makes the dorm life so great. Unlike other schools you actually get to know you entire hall which is about 40 other guys.

There is food all around including Chick fil a, subway, habit burger, jack in the box, jersey mikes, santanas, and taco bell. There is plenty of food for late night eating especially santanas which is open 24/7. There are many student discounts especially at santanas and jersey mikes.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe at Azusa. There are always walking campus saftey walking around the campus during the night. There are students who are scared at night but i attribute that to the neighborhood they are used to being in. If anything i thing Azusa is too cautious with the students safety.

The srictness at APU is alright, not too bad. The officers are friendly and some are very fun. However, when the tough gets going, they will get serious about their job.
College Freshman 2013-07-11T04:17:29Z
Under no circumstances can a student be seen smoking or drinking. APU is completely strict with these issues, and could possibly end up in getting kicked out.
College Freshman 2013-07-11T04:11:55Z
The dining hall is very good. They try to vary the food options as much as possible. Also, the other restaurants are formal and have lots of options as well.

Guys & Girls:
Very nice. Everyone has their own sense of style thus embracing diversity a little more.

I love APU's libraries--they are convenient, quiet, and clean.

Health & Safety:
I don't live on campus, so I can't really review the health aspect of APU. However, when it comes to safety, APU's campus safety does an excellent job of protecting the students.

Azusa Pacific is split into two separate campuses by about half a mile or so. As a result the school provides an around the clock trolley service with about 10-15 minute wait times in between. The trolley drivers are all extremely kind and dedicated to the students as well. Sometimes it can be faster to walk or ride a bike/skate board. But it just depends on the student. The distance can be a hassle as well especially when you live on campus and have a 8:00 a.m. class. For the most part, I feel like they do a good job at keeping up transportation.
College Junior 2013-07-08T19:02:41Z
Health & Safety:
The school does a good job of informing students of crime and safety issues. On campus seems to be well kept, but the school itself is in a very poor neighborhood. There are a lot of crimes that take place in the area and pretty often at that. But the school does have campus safety that routinely patrols all of the sidewalks between housing and classrooms. It's more of a neighborhood issue than anything else.
College Junior 2013-07-08T18:59:52Z
It truly depends which on-campus housing option you make it into. The lottery system is really awful, because such a large percentage of the students live on campus. Some of the buildings and areas have been renovated but over all, the space given per living quarter is just simply not sufficient enough for the amount of students they cram in. I lived with 2 other fair sized guys in a single bed/single bathroom apartment that we paid for and paid utilities. There just simply isn't enough room for what the school is trying to squeeze in.

Athletics at Azusa Pacific have obviously taken on a new type of recognition. Moving from the NAIA to NCAA DII is no easy feat. It says a lot about the caliber of the sports programs at this establishment.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
