I haven't had an opportunity to eat at the dining halls
I am very happy with my program. I am being trained by industry professionals, and professors who are heavily invested in their students as well as the field of study. I would like to write, direct, produce and of course act on stage and film. Here at APU, I am learning to do all that i am interested in and more! If I could do it again, I would change a few things which I'm sure anyone in any field of study would be able to say about their program. It is tough for an actor to get into the entertainment industry as a "big name," however this program is flexible enough that I have the ability to work in community theaters and professional theater while I am a full time student, which allows me to build my theatrical résumé so that I have a higher chance of getting work after graduation.
The process of getting into my program was simple. Being a theater department, you admission into the program is solely based upon your audition process more than your academic success and extra curricular activity involvement. I had to prepare a 16 bar audition piece, and two one-minute monologues and perform them in front of the department chair. A week later, I was admitted into the program. Obviously one would need to have initial talent in order to be admitted into the program.
Restaurants are probably what Azusa has the least of near campus. There is a lot of fast food, McDonalds, Jack in the Box, Burger King, Panda Express, The Habit, Little Caesars and Pizza Hut. However if you have the transportation or willing to make that drive about 10 miles from campus there is an island of restaurants to enjoy.
As an Athletic Training Major, especially at APU, there are many opportunities to explore your major from internships to actual paying jobs while still in the program. I personally was able to work with a volleyball team and under an Athletic Director during games to get the experience of what it will be like when I graduate and actually walk into a job.
