Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The best way to describe Babson is at first you’ll feel like a fish out of water, but as time goes on you somehow survive and become a lizard with tougher skin. No matter how hard you think your high school was, nothing can prepare you for the incredible and challenging academic life of a Babson freshman. Most students agree that the workload is by far larger than they initially expected. And although it takes some time to get used to the curriculum, students feel that the impeccable education is worth it.

Those who are unhappy with their education here are usually just not used to it yet. Many say that the school is too small and they get bored walking around campus and seeing the same people all the time. Voicing the fact that this college is smaller than many high schools is not uncommon here. Some students also complain that too many of their peers come from the same economic backgrounds, even though the campus is diverse in other aspects. The social scene, however, is better than expected for a business-oriented school, although it’s not a party school by far. Students here are very serious about their education, and many are very competitive. School size is also directly proportional to the faculty-to-student ratio, which is where Babson excels in comparison to larger business schools. This ratio is important for the special attention that students receive from faculty. Professors are very well-educated and try their best to convey their knowledge to the young Babsonians. Although the workload can be shocking at first, it gets better with time. Most enjoy the challenges and hurdles of Babson’s college experience, and believe that the education they receive is valuable to their future careers, and their future in general.

If you want to go Greek, it is easy too. However the college does scrutinize the Greek system as does the general student population due to stereotypes that are not strongly present.

Intramurals

Intramural sports are both very easy to form and very popular at Babson. There is always at least 3-4 leagues going on and allows students to form teams and stay active with a lot of fun. The school sports teams are also very fun to watch and support, especially hockey and soccer

Not College Oriented

The local area has plenty of high end eateries and some places that deliver, however it is far from College Oriented. The environment is more suited for the very established Wellesley-Natick community due to the rather high prices and lack of fast food joints. Although you can order in Chinese/Pizza any day of the week, the local town ordinances prevents any store from being open past 10pm so after that you are on your own.
