Campus Strictness

Quick Stats

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught...
  • Drinking
  • Noise violation
  • Smoking marijuana
  • Using or possessing other drugs

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

In the dorms, strictness really depends on how strongly the staff chooses to enforce the rules. Drinking in the dorms is generally tolerated, so long as people behave themselves and keep yelling and loud music to a minimum. At the same time, enforcement of rules pertaining to marijuana and other drugs is strict and universal. Penalties for drinking in the dorms are generally mild for first-time offenders, and typically include a fine and possible counseling.

Depending on the number of offences students have and the amount of alcohol they are caught with, penalties for drinking in the dorms can include expulsion from the dorms. Marijuana busts are frequent, and the penalties can include expulsion from the University. However, punishment is generally limited to the offender’s expulsion from the dorms. Students face expulsion and criminal charges if they are caught using or possessing harder drugs like cocaine, opium, methamphetamines, or ecstasy.

Campus Strictness

The campus says they're strict, however I haven't ever heard of anyone getting in trouble when in reality they need to be getting in trouble a lot.

Academic Honesty Policy

Ball State is very strict about the academic honesty part of the school system. If you cheat or plagiarize, you will get caught. The university will punish whoever cheats. This can lead to someone even getting kicked out of school.

The Many Rules of BSU

The police at Ball State are always readily available...especially when you need to park your car in a metored spot for a total of two minutes but can not find 45 cents. They take care of the parking infractions immediately. There are also a lot of undercover police officers ready to catch the students at parties nursing beers. In Short, they are moderately strict here. Underage drinking is not something they mess around with. Getting caught drinking in the dorm can lead to expulsion or being kicked out of the residence halls. Tips on how to not get caught, avoid yelling about the Vodka Bottle you've stached in your 2 foot tall mini fridge, because the rooms do get searched.
