Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Compared to universities like Purdue and IU, Ball State has a weak Greek presence. Members of Greek organizations are most commonly seen around campus raising money for different charities. This, aside from the occasional frat party, is the only interaction most Ball State students have with the organizations.

Opinions differ as to why the majority of students are not interested in joining a fraternity or sorority. Most say they just don’t have time for it. Other students say their own groups of friends provide the same emotional and social support they would find in a Greek organization, so they see no need to join one. Whatever the reason, the fact is that less than 10 percent of Ball State students are in a fraternity or sorority. As a result, Greek organizations do not play a prominent role on Ball State’s campus, and their influence on non-Greek students is miniscule.

Ball State Greeks

Greek students are not viewed any differently here at Ball State. They are treated just like everyone else. I do here of parties every once in a while, but it's not the only thing I hear about on campus. Greeks do not look down on us that do not participate. Ball State has an average Greek scene. There are quite a few people in Greek life, but there are also a lot that are not.

No Greek Housing

A lot of the girls here are into greek life, but muncie doesn't allow sorority houses. According to the city, more than six girls to a house is considered a whore house... But the Frats are really nice, only two of them are allowed alcohol right now though.
