Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For the most part, Ball State students feel that members of both sexes are pretty average. That is to say, they run the gamut from hideously ugly to strikingly attractive, with the majority falling somewhere in the middle. Almost all the students interviewed say they are satisfied with the overall appearance of the men and women at Ball State, and they feel it is about the same as most other schools. Many students say that they take precautions when it comes to their sexual health, choosing to use condoms and avoiding random hookups. Most say they have at least one friend who has been infected with a sexually transmitted disease. This doesn’t mean there aren’t large numbers of disease-free, sexually active students at Ball State. There are. It just means they exercise a degree of caution when it comes to sex.

At BSU, as anywhere, it’s always best to know your partners personally before knowing them biblically. Having said that, there are some communities of Ball State students who abstain from sex altogether. These students are often, although not necessarily, affiliated with on-campus religious organizations. As with its drinking and drug scenes, Ball State’s sex scene is a visible part of life at the University, but the same as with drinking and drugs, students who choose to abstain from sex are generally not stigmatized or pressured into doing it.

Typical College

It's typical college life here. A lot of people like to drink and party and they usually keep I the weekends but sometimes it does get out of hand and they party and drink too much to where they're doing stupid, regrettable things. There are the kids who don't like to do that stuff and they're just as easy to find as the partyers. It's typical college that you hear about all the time.

The difference between the looks, interests, dress, social life, and relationships provides a pool of random people. It is fun to learn from the ranges of cultures and views of all members found on campus.

There are people for everyone. No matter how weird you think you are there is someone at Ball State that you will fit in with. There are people of all different shapes colors sizes and backgrounds.

Social Scene

Ball State students are generally very friendly and outgoing people. The best places to meet people are at parties, in class, around your building, and at bars.

Hookups or Relationships?

If you are interested in a random hookup, parties are going to be your best bet. If you are looking for something like a relationship, the best places to find a partner would be in classes or in your building.

Dress Code

Being stylish at Ball State really depends on your own demographic, social affiliation, and taste. On a typical Saturday night, you'll see guys wearing anything from polo shirts with popped collars to skin-tight girls' jeans and eye makeup. Urban street wear is also ubiquitous among the males around campus. The girls of BSU tend to be more homogenous. General party gear includes really short shorts, low-cut designer shirts, and heels. Heels tend to be most commonly found among freshman girls who are historically willing to sacrifice comfort for the sake of fashion. They are usually pretty easy to spot, as upperclassman girls generally go for a more dressed-down look. Maybe they'll put makeup on, maybe they won't.
