Getting a Parking Permit

Permits can range from $70 to $350, depending on the parking location and the availability of spaces. It’s best to get a permit a semester in advance and keep an eye on the waiting lists for a better spot. This does not apply to freshman students who must park in the stadium parking lot.

College Prowler Take

Finding a parking space on campus can be an epic battle. Everywhere you look, there are no-parking signs. Ball State Parking Services workers can smell an illegally parked car from a mile away. Students say Parking Services is without conscience, a loathsome and sadistic group, bent on making student drivers miserable.

Freshman drivers are forced to park at the stadium, which is a hike in the truest sense. Although the Ball State shuttle bus goes by the stadium, the trip can take a very long time. Many students said it is best for freshmen to leave their cars at home and wait until they are upperclassmen and can get a better spot to bring it to campus. For many freshman students, not having a car isn’t that big of a deal, as they tend to stay close to campus anyway.

It’s a half-hour walk to get to my car in the stadium lot, and that’s just not convenient. They really just need to find a better way of providing parking.

Parking is horrible on this campus. Lucky students get spots by their residence halls. Unlucky students have to park by the stadium. They don’t oversell for either of those, but they do oversell for the commuter lots. Also, they have parking meters all over campus, but they are only for 45 minutes, so parking gets annoying around campus and everybody hates Parking Services.

Parking isn’t good for the students. The parking places are in some really inconvenient spots.

The parking scene has been hell for many students in the past couple of years, and parking passes and fees have risen to ungodly amounts.

If you purchase a parking tag, you’ll be assured a spot, though not necessarily a good one. However, BSU Parking Services are notoriously stringent and strict in enforcing their problems, and fines can get rather pricey. Basically everyone on campus hates them, and this is no exaggeration.
