Looks rate very low on the priority list for girls at Barnard. Some people will come to class in an outfit very similar to the one they wore to bed the night before. When sleep is precious, and you’re not trying to impress anyone, then what you wear to class doesn’t matter. Other people, however, might show up in a dress and heels to class. This usually isn’t because they want to look good, but usually because they have a fantastic interview downtown that they need to look the part for. The main theme for Barnard girls is that they don’t try to look a certain way for look’s sake, but rather for the weather, for a job, or because they’re tired and they’re going right back to sleep after class.

As far as strict looks go, there are some truly beautiful women that attend Barnard. The dancers in particular are usually quite gorgeous. However, there are quite a few more that aren’t so aesthetically blessed. Barnard is a college to be yourself; so even the ugliest of ducklings wouldn’t feel left out because they don’t have flawless skin or straight, gleaming teeth. People might come to Barnard for a lot of things, but they don’t come to run with a crowd of supermodels. It’s not that Barnard women aren’t attractive; it’s that they realize how many things are more important than their appearance. They’re in college to expand their minds, not spend every minute fixing their hair and looking in the mirror.  There's a casually tossed around  catchphrase that each student  is a  "strong, beautiful, Barnard woman."  This statement actually makes looks less of an issue by serving as a confidence-booster.   In fact, confidence is one of the most important  things Barnard students gain during their time here.

Very Nice People

The only problem with the awesome people on campus (and there are a lot of them!) is that many are extremely busy. As the campus is an open one, it can be hard to see a smiley face.

It's College.

First of all, it's college. You're not going to find a boyfriend/girlfriend the first week you get here, or probably at all your first year, though some do. There's a lot of sleazy bars/"night clubs" (if you can call them that) where people hook up. Guys invite girls back to their rooms, and there's mostly just a lot of random hookups.

As for the people, the girls at Barnard really aren't that bad. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of freaks (like a lot actually, and the lesbian thing is not a rumor) but there are plenty of really hot girls here too. When it comes to guys: a lot of asians and some cute athletes.

Basically, some very unattractive people, but not anymore than the rest of the world, but some very hot people at this school.

Pretentious

Everyone has to look great here at Barnard or else you're sort of an outcast. Obviously Barnard is an all women's college therefore there aren't any guys but Columbia is right across the street. There are some really attractive guys at Columbia.
