Barry Policies

Campus policies are pretty strict about underaged drinking and drugs. The first alcohol violation includes a warning and community service; the second violation has an increase of community service, assessment by counseling, and possible housing probation; the third violation can result in university probation.

It's Who You Know

At Barry University, it will take you a long way to make friends in higher places. If you are closer to your teachers, they are naturally more lenient and understanding. If you are friends with the RA's, your midnight discrepancies are usually over looked as "hyperactive antics". In lue of that, there are many policies designed to keep students safe, as well as to ensure that the campus is operational and treating students as adults. Just yesterday, a student was approached about possible plagiarism, but because she was an athlete, the teacher suggested that the student drop the class instead of being reported. In addition to this, some teachers adhere firmly to the policies implemented by the school, and some are more lax. I feel like this provides a good balance, because an institution that is too strict can place too much stress on students, causing further unruly behavior. Here, they understand that we're blossoming adults learning about responsibility.
