Bates has an excellent career services department, but it’s up to you to use it. Every year, the Office of Career Services sends students a newsletter, detailing all the steps they should take that year in order to prepare for life after Bates. The information is also posted on the OCS Web site. It’s important to follow those steps and to attend the relevant lectures and fairs. If you have any questions at all, it’s very easy to call or e-mail OCS and set up an appointment to meet with a counselor. OCS also offers career mentoring in which students get paired up with an alumnus or parent volunteer to help them with their job searches.
