Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Participate in the Golden Rule, and you’ll be fine. Basically, as long as your parties are contained and not too noisy, you’ll never have much of a problem. To be clear, though, there is absolutely no drinking or public intoxication, even for those over-21 on campus. It is 100 percent not tolerated. Don’t even try in the dorm. If you really want to drink, find a party to attend, or make some friends that are 21 and live off campus. If someone calls the cops on you and they come out to give you a warning, you’ll be fine as long as you’re decent to the police. Like anywhere else, use your common sense, don’t aggravate the cops or your neighbors, and you’ll be fine.

The only area that is absolutely ridiculous here is the parking. You can park somewhere illegally for five seconds, leave your hazards on and a note in the windshield saying you’ll be right back, and you’ll still get ticketed.

Campus Policies Are Stringent but Some Are Plain Ridiculous

One experience I had with ridiculous Baylor policies was the honors dorm 2 year housing contract. At one point I thought I would not return to Baylor so I terminated my contract with a semester to go. When I returned to Baylor unexpectedly since I managed to pay my tuition they charged me the same dorm fee of $2700 even though I did not spend the following semester in the dorm and I was living in a cheap apartment and paying for rent out of my job earnings. This was beyond ridiculous since I was asked to pay for a service that I had not used and that another student was currently occupying. So Baylor got double the money for the same room. Some Baylor policies are fair but most of them are strict and some are just plain absurd. Baylor needs to think long and hard and revise these outlandish policies that take unfair advantage of students.

Very Strict

The campus is very strict with rules. Visitation hours are strictly enforced. Cheating is looked down on, and you can get in serious trouble for it. First time offence can kick you out of living on campus.
