Approximate Parking Permit CostParking Permits
It is very easy to get a parking permit, but it doesn’t guarantee you a spot. To get the permit, go to the Fourth Street Parking Garage and into the DPS office on the first floor, or if you are a registered student, request a decal online from the DPS Web site. If you go at the beginning of the year, you will probably have to stand in line. Have your vehicle registration and your license plate number ready. Decals must be renewed yearly in August.
College Prowler Take
The only reason parking at Baylor is considered so awful and difficult is because some prime lots are right next to buildings that people spend the majority of their days in. That said, if you live a few blocks off campus, get a bike, or just leave a little earlier. The campus isn’t big enough to warrant all the cars competing for the same spots, because you can walk across the entire thing in roughly ten minutes. If you live way off campus, drive to the Ferrell Center and take the trolley, or park in one of the garages. Most cars belonging to on-campus students don’t move for the majority of the week. Parking also gets troublesome when it’s raining, but generally, if you’re a little patient and into cardio, you won’t need to drive to campus. Fighting traffic at peak time periods is ridiculous. If you live a block or two, or even five, from campus, you’ll be able to walk there faster than you can drive. Traffic blocks up all along Bagby, University Parks Drive, and Eighth Street during peak hours. The biggest drawback is that the number of parking stickers is unlimited, so there are a lot more students competing for a minimum number of spots. After about 3 p.m., you’ll never have trouble finding a spot, but really, the only reason the parking situation is so absurd is because students want to park right outside their dorm room windows, or drive straight into the building lobby where their first class is located!

I’ve been to about ten college campuses, and this, by far, has the best parking available. You would think by the way everyone complains about parking that it’s a horrible situation—it’s not. People here are just spoiled and want to park ten feet away from their classes. |

Baylor just added two new parking garages, so it’s definitely a lot easier than it used to be. There shouldn’t be many problems left. |

There are only two parking garages that are next to classes. The biggest one is at the edge of campus, and it almost makes it pointless to drive, since you’re still so far away. |

Parking sucks because they give any idiot with a license a decal. They keep building buildings in the parking lots, but the new parking garages have helped some. |

Parking is a nightmare—especially for the Baylor girls. They can’t drive or park. |
