The only reason parking at Baylor is considered so awful and difficult is because some prime lots are right next to buildings that people spend the majority of their days in. That said, if you live a few blocks off campus, get a bike, or just leave a little earlier. The campus isn’t big enough to warrant all the cars competing for the same spots, because you can walk across the entire thing in roughly ten minutes. If you live way off campus, drive to the Ferrell Center and take the trolley, or park in one of the garages. Most cars belonging to on-campus students don’t move for the majority of the week. Parking also gets troublesome when it’s raining, but generally, if you’re a little patient and into cardio, you won’t need to drive to campus.
Fighting traffic at peak time periods is ridiculous. If you live a block or two, or even five, from campus, you’ll be able to walk there faster than you can drive. Traffic blocks up all along Bagby, University Parks Drive, and Eighth Street during peak hours. The biggest drawback is that the number of parking stickers is unlimited, so there are a lot more students competing for a minimum number of spots. After about 3 p.m., you’ll never have trouble finding a spot, but really, the only reason the parking situation is so absurd is because students want to park right outside their dorm room windows, or drive straight into the building lobby where their first class is located!
