How to Get to the Airport
- DFW: Waco Streak (254) 772-0430 or (800) 460-0430. $45 one-way, $85 roundtrip. A cab ride to DFW costs $166 one-way, cash-in-advance.
- It's not hard to find a ride to the airport since many Baylor students are from the area, but if you can't get a lift, the Waco Streak will take you from your dorm to the airport and back.
- Waco Airport: Exit #339 Lake Shore Dr. west and follow the airport signs.
College Prowler Take
There is a joke on the Baylor campus that you don’t have to ask anyone where they’re from, because the answer will inevitably be Houston, Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio. Granted, it’s a pretty lame joke, but with few exceptions it is very appropriate, which is a huge perk when it comes to traveling. If you’re from out of state, it isn’t hard at all to find or make some friends that live in the town your airport is in. There’s no need to live like a vagabond and thumb a ride. It’s also great to go home with said friends for a change of scenery and to get out of Waco. If all of the above fails, in the SUB there is a “ride board,” a paper version of hitchhiking, where people seeking and offering rides post where they are going and the date they need to go. If that still fails, there is always the Waco Streak. It runs seven days a week, but check with the Streak before you book your ticket, because if you fly a red-eye, you might spend the night in the airport. It’s cheaper to fly straight out of DFW and get wherever you need to go. The Waco Airport has two flight lines: one to Dallas and the other to Houston, so if you’re stuck here without a car you can still get where you’re going. That’s the biggest drawback to living in a medium-sized town, but on the plus side, with the majority of student calling any of the large towns home, it’s never very difficult to call a friend for a ride.

Though I've never used it, I know that the Baylor buses are a very popular and easy way to get around campus. I see them all the time picking people up, so you never have to wait very long to get to where you're going.

They do have buses that can take you around campus, but you will want a car (or a friend with a car). The City of Waco transportation is horrible!

It's horrible. There's a trolley for around campus and to the football games, but aside from that, you're on your own!

Well, it’s Texas, so anyone from out of state thinks we all ride horses to class with dusters and cowboy hats and have oil derricks in our back yards. We don’t. There is public transportation; it’s just limited. |
