The only problem is the traffic situations around town when raining.

There are some absolutely GREAT places, but not open late..
College Senior 2013-11-07T08:14:49Z
The meals are decent, just like any other cafeteria. But unless you live on-campus, the cafteria is outrageously expensive.

I lived on campus for 3 years. I lived in Gillespie hall. I loved every minute of it. They say Gillespie is the "hotel", Caldwell is the "prison", and and Hellen White is the "home".

Jackson is a small city. We have several colleges in the surrounding area, but unfortunately there is no real nightlife. Well, nothing that is truely safe. I've lived here all my life, its a nice place. But the town is very welcoming.

We have a large international student body, and most of the students of Belhaven are from out of state. So if interested in Belhaven, you will be meet people from places you would never dream of.

The atmosphere is to help the students. The moto is true to the whole of the school. Serve, not to be served.

Elementary education is challenging at moments, the work load is alot. For a student- athlete, and having a part-time job, its killer. But its what I love, pays for school, and groceries.

For students living on-campus, the parking is amazing. Living off-campus, it's a nightmare. There are very few parking spaces, and they all fill up so quickly. After chapel, it can be nearly impossible to find a space.

The computer labs, have fairly new computers. The only downside is that they are not compatible to Mac software.

Each of the five dorms are uniquely different in the convenience, atmosphere, and quality. None of them are coed. Caldwell Hall, one of the three women's dorms, is the where many of the freshmen are placed, and also seems to be a favorite among dancers, visual artists, and musicians, due to it's proximity to the Center for the Arts and the art studios. Gillespie, which holds the largest dorm rooms on campus, is where the other freshmen women go if they're not in Caldwell, and is predominantly female athletes and dancers that would prefer to be closer to the cafeteria, but still a short distance from the dance building. Helen White houses almost entirely upperclassmen women, and is the closest to the main campus building, and also the nicest quality rooms. The men's dorms, Wells and Robertson, are connected by a common lobby. Wells is the freshmen dorm, and is the smallest, and uncomfortably so. Robertson is a comfortable size for two, and is by far the better of the two men's dorms, though the quality of the room is on more par with Gillespie than Helen White.

While the selection of chain restaurants is more limited than one would expect from a state capitol, there are plenty of excellent choices in the immediate area. Just outside of the Belhaven neighborhood is Fenian's Irish Pub, which is popular, and has something going on most evenings, from karaoke to Irish dances, to live bands. The prices are decent, and the food is good. Keifer's serves Greek cuisine, and is slightly cheaper than Applebee's or Chile's or the like. Coffee drinkers choose between the artistic atmosphere of Sneaky Beans, which consistently brings home awards for excellent service, and the slightly more expensive Cups. Both are cheaper and higher quality than Starbucks, which is a ten minute drive up the interstate. Late night options include a low quality Taco Bell, the slightly-better-than-McDonalds What-A-Burger(open 24 hours), Waffle House(also 24 hours), or driving ten minutes to IHOP(again, 24 hours).

The school is located in the middle of a residential area, and as such, is restricted in how much room they have. Therefore, parking tends to be tight. There are just enough spaces for resident students, and unless you are able to be on campus by 7:30 in the morning, most resident students, and even some faculty and staff, have to parallel park on the street, sometimes even parking along side streets near the campus, though the walk is usually less than a block.

For a Christian college, things are pretty laid back. Alcohol and related paraphernalia are not permitted on campus, but off campus use, at least by those of legal age, is permitted. While a tobacco-free campus, they don't prevent you from having it, as long as it's used outside of school grounds. Penalties aren't severe if you're not a repeat offender, with the exception of violence and illegal activities, which will more than likely result in your expulsion. Academically, if your GPA falls under a certain threshold, you're given a semester to bring it back up to acceptable levels. Should you be unable to do so, you will likely find yourself under a semester of academic suspension. For the most part, the rules aren't terribly restraining, and many students can spend the entire span of their education there without receiving a summons to the Dean of Student Life's office.

As a Christian school, the standards at Belhaven include NO drug use and NO alcohol use. Some students still sneak it, whether on or off campus, but there are very few, because you get in a BUNCH of trouble if you're caught. If you're looking for a party school, this is NOT your idea of a good time.

I really have no idea, I attend a satellite campus up in TN that's for adult learners, and I live at home. I did visit the campus for preview weekend, and the dorms seemed very nice, and I had a friend who attended who LOVED it. So they can't be terrible.

The parking is good. When there are athletic events it can sometimes be difficult to find a spot, but on normal days, it's a breeze.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
