Biggest Surprises
The amount of reading for certain classes
Required Tech Skills
You do not have to be too tech-savvy. Just knowing the basics of attaching files to your email and sending assignments to your instructor is key. You do not need to be a computer genius to take an online class.
Typical Online Lecture - Single Day
Most online classes are textbook oriented. This means the only contact you have with your instructor is through email or the phone. There isn't really a lecture-just necessary readings you have to complete to get ready for a writing assignment or test.
Typical Online Course - Start to Finish
Some classes have online lectures; in other classes, you just go by a book. The classes administer tests and assignments, and you send the completed assignments to your instructor by email. There is no final, or if there is, it is not a big test like with regular classes-just a project or something similar.
Online Testing & Grading
It depends on what class you take, but for tests, they're either timed or not timed. The great thing about online classes is that they always show all of your graded assignments, so you know what standing grade you have in that class instead of waiting until the end of it. Otherwise, it's just like a regular class.
Did You Know?
You can contact the school via email or phone if the system for your online classes isn't working.
