I currently have a student teaching job at Nashville Ballet.

I enjoy my class. I guess there are days I really don't want to be in class for 4 hours (I have class once a week), but that frees up the rest of my week for a part time job and a little bit of social life.

The process of getting into my program was easy. I am a dancer with Nashville Ballet's training program and they have a relationship with Belmont University where they allow NB2 dancers to take classes at night and continue their education while dancing.

Nashville in a Nutshell – Nashville is the place to be when trying to explore your creativity and dive into the work world. With musicians everywhere, your background music is always pleasant, and the coffee is above par. There's numerous opportunities to apply for recording labels and get to work with artists around the community. Belmont University is filled with incredible professors and amazing people. Also around the area are a few more private, Christian-based universities. You can find great restaurants and awesome shopping around the area, but some places at night you are going to want to steer clear of just to be safe. Many churches in the area offer a wide variety of denominations and religions. This is a great place to live after school and try to find a job to jump start a career or family!

Completely Worth It – Belmont isn't cheap, but I received a great education and made awesome connections in my social life and for my post-college career.

Music Business/Audio Engineering a+ – Top of the line studios and equipment, incredibly knowledgeable professors with great connections for internships and after-college work.

Solid Options – Nice dorm options, and everything is incredibly close to class!

Hard to Find! It's pretty hard to find cheap off-campus housing in Nashville. It's a popular area to live. Most students are required to live on campus until they have completed 60 credits (Junior standing) however, there are ways to apply for off-campus while an underclassman. If you can find a house or apartment, stick with it! There are a lot of neighborhoods around Belmont and a lot of places to rent out. If you can find a good place to live within walking distance, consider yourself lucky because parking at Belmont is terrible!!! Most places you can find to live aren't going to be any lower than $500 a person per month, which is still better than the on campus price. However, saying that it is a lot more convenient to live off campus because of the dorm rules.

SO Many Options! Belmont, Vanderbilt, and Lipscomb are all relatively close to each other so there are a ton of options to choose from, all of which are in walking distance. Edgehill is only 3 blocks away and has a Gelato shop, coffee shop, and Taco Mamacita, a modern taco place and my personal favorite! 21st Street, near Vanderbilt, has a bunch of mid-priced restaurants as well as a Sweet Cece's fro-yo place, this area has more self-service and quick food. 12th South has more sit-down restaurant options including burger joints, BBQ, sandwich shops, and cafes. Also, the Green Hills Mall is nearby and has a few sit-down restaurants including The Cheesecake Factory, which is a favorite celebration place!

There are nearly no real parties at Belmont. About the craziest nightlife you will see there are late night "jam sessions" from the music kids. Downtown Nashville is minutes away though, but most of the good clubs there are 21 and up.

Freshman Dorms Are the Best – There are two new dorm buildings that are significantly better than the rest. They are only for freshmen, but they are co-ed, only a couple years old, and have one nice bathroom shared by 4 "suite mates." The rest are much, much older and have public facilities.
College Senior 2012-08-08T17:14:15Z
Music Oriented – Belmont is wonderful for music lovers. Many kids meet each other through music and often meet up for jam sessions. This helps make many connections with many great people. As a business major, I have found the general student atmosphere to be a little too artsy. The frats aren't real frats like you would find at many state schools, and it can be difficult to find parties. Aesthetically, however, the campus is beautiful. many people joke about how much of our tuition money goes into the landscaping. I was severely disappointed by the small, outdated weight room (not many kids there are serious about working out), but other than that the facilities are great.

The weather in Nashville is typically good. in the summer and spring months it is hot, but bearable, and the winter is a little chilly but manageable, the weather has never affected my stay at school, only enhanced my experience.
College Junior 2012-08-01T23:45:10Z
Belmont parties are practically nonexistent. If you want the a party scene you must travel downtown to the bars and clubs. which tend to be teeming with life. Or just make the trip across the street to Vanderbilt if you are looking for the more typical college party scene, with frats and what not.

Several Fitness Opportunities – Our gym is pretty nice, with weights, several elipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes, and spin bikes. They also offer a lot of group fitness classes, including spin classes. We also have a rock climbing wall.

If you park before 8, or after 4:30, the parking is not bad at all. The middle of the day is usually an awful time to try to find parking, especially between 11 and 1. Around this time, be prepared to spend an extra half an hour looking for parking, and also be prepared to walk a good distance to class. They just finished the law building, which will have an underground parking lot underneath, so hopefully this will help alleviate the problem.

Entering Mike Curb College – There were no specific requirements for entering the Mike Curb College for Audio Engineering. You mostly just have to apply to the university itself and state which program you want to enroll in, overall it is your choice to keep your grades up and maintain a good GPA in order to excel in this college.

Audio Engineering Major – There is nothing like being an Audio Engineer at Belmont University. Some students believe that the early classes of the curriculum are boring but I beg to differ. In your first recording class, Recording Technologies, you learn about the many different recording techniques from the very first Phonograph to modern recording. The best part about the class is the studio observations. Next to being the man behind the board, what's better than getting credit for sitting in a recording studio and watching a magnificent song being created? As classes move on, everything becomes more and more hands-on, and your classes change from writing papers, to creating hit singles while learning the best techniques in the industries from some of the biggest names in music! On top of the breath taking studios that you can find on campus, classes are held in the famous RCA Studio B where legends like Elvis have recorded hit records! There are not many universities in the country that give you as much opportunity as Belmont University does for Audio Engineering.

If you are a musically gifted student then Belmont University should be your top choice. I, as an Audio Engineering Technology major, have faith that I will earn a great career in my life. While enrolled in Belmont University, students are offered some of the best music internships in the country. Whether it be at Sony or Capitol Records, students are given such great opportunities that almost nobody can turn down. The internships let you gain a real life aspect of the industry and how to excel in it.

Good but Not Much Variety – I enjoy the food a lot but find that I sometimes prefer to utilize the variety of off-campus dining options to spice things up a bit.
